Huh. I didn't even think about that. Anybody want to buy a jewelry kiln?

Does anyone know if it is possible to turn my small Satellite J-100 jewelry kiln into a vitrigraph kiln? The top part is the interior of the kiln and the narrower bottom part is pretty empty and houses the element ends traveling to the temperature dial.

When fusing glass that contains Lead or Cadmium, will it be rendered "Food-Safe" with the addition of a coating of Super Spray or Clear Coat on top? Is an Iridized glass food-safe after fusing?

Fiber paper is a terrible choice. It is held together with an organic binder. After this binder burns off, it is completely weak and useless. You can use Chinese 1/2" blanket, which is relatively inexpensive. I have found the Chinese blankets to be acceptable quality. Unifrax makes the thinnes...

Why don't you use a heavier gauge of stainless steel sheet to lay over the kiln shelves thereby bridging the gap? Use kiln wash or thin-fire on the SS.

Does anyone know or have an opinion regarding the best brand of 1/8 inch fiber paper? I am looking for the sturdiest and most durable to do some kiln insulation. I hope to get the best brand that will last the longest.

I am wondering if iridized and dichroic fused glass pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe. Is the coating on these glasses metalic? Can fused glass pieces hold up to the varied temperatures in the dishwasher?
