Re: Mesh Melt

Thank you for your advice. I appreciate the help! I have been putting off the project because I have been a little nervous about it. My project is a square piece so I will add a little more glass. I did use the pot melt calculator. Thanks, Blair

Mesh Melt

I am planning on doing a mesh melt and would like a little advice. I built a 15 in by 15 in by 4 1/2 box made of vermiculite and stainless steel screws. I have a stainless steel wire mesh for the top of the box. I also placed some screws on top of the box to hold the wire mesh in place. I prepped my...

Re: Frit question

Hi. Thanks for your input. I think next time I do a piece that is similar or something new I will do a test firing. I may also may put it on the forum to see what others think. Everyone has been helpful. I did order the book Kevin suggested and I also decided to purchase Bullseyes year video subscri...

Re: Frit question

Thank you Kevin for your suggestion! I think it is a great idea to purchase the book "Read Stones Firing schedules". It is on my list of to dos today. I have not done a tack fuse like this before. Usually the gaps where I use frit are smaller and I also bring the temperature higher. I did ...

Re: Frit question

All of the glass is Bullseye 90 coe. I made the pebbles first then added them to the design. You are right it was a tack fuse. Here is the schedule I used. 200-950, 400- 1300 hold 2 min., full-950 hold 1 hour.75-700, 150-300. I used the tac fuse to give the platter texture. After that I did a slumpi...

Frit question

Hi. I started using frit as part of my glass design. For example, when doing a 9 in square platter. I come up with a design. I take a piece of doulble rolled black glass as my base. Then I cut out my design using double rolled iridescent bullseye glass. I leave a space approx 1/8 inch and fill it wi...

Re: best heavy duty saw for cutting pattern bars

Thank you Rick. I do not mind paying a little extra for the MK 100 since it is good product. I found one close by for $650 and it will be delivered to me. I do need to figure out the blades I will be using. I did a little more research online and Clearwater Glass studio said that they use the MK 303...

best heavy duty saw for cutting pattern bars

I am looking at purchasing a new wet saw for cutting pattern bars. I have used the super slicer on the Tauras 3. The blade broke after not much use so I think it would be nice to have something more durable for my studio. I will also use it for other types of glass project. Also what blade would you...
