Re: power went out

just posting back for future generations of people looking for assistance...I did go with number three. I used a very conservative anneal schedule. going with an anneal schedule for 5/8 inch. (made up from finding the middle of the BE anneal chart for 1/2 and 3/4) The beetles survived and look great...

power went out

Hello, Last night I started a full fuse. before I went to bed I saw that it was pretty close to full temp. At some time in the night, the power went out, so the kiln shut off. I can safely assume that this happened in the cool down period, but I have no idea if it was in the AFAP to 960 range or it ...

Re: first break in a long time

well, I am happy to report, that there were no issues with my schedule. I actually turned the kiln off last night before I went to bed at the point when it was about 750 and let it come down naturally. The kiln is is the sunroom and when it is done it has 14 very loud beeps in a row which I thought ...

Re: first break in a long time

ok. I am going with this
300 1350 10
afap 960 2 hours
50 700 1 hour

and I am only doing the middle iridescent base one. I need to full fuse a body part on the other one first....

Re: first break in a long time

yes, the base is already fused. so I will get rid of the 300 hold. looking at my previous schedule, I only held at 1350 for 15 minutes. Good thing I checked! Since I am not doing a bubble squeeze can I just go straight to 1350? Should I hold it at all? stick with the 15 minutes?? I did not have any ...

Re: first break in a long time

back to the beetles...if you will humor me for a minute more I made two more (the lfet and middle) the right is the original broken one. beetles for onlin.jpg Using the previous suggestions, I plan to tack fuse the left two with a schedule of: 300 300 10min 300 1350 1 hour AFAP 960 2 hours 50 700 1 ...

Re: Glassline Best Price?

I love my Glasslines! here is my sage advice ;) #1 Don't lose the tip cleaner-outers. you will need them numerous times. if you set the bottle down with a fine tip in it and walk away for 5 minutes, you will need it when you come back. They clog very easy. But as long as you have those little reamer...

Re: first break in a long time

why yes it is!
I do stained glass as well, and I have started to fire it onto a piece when doing a larger panel as well. the most permanent way to sign glass!

Re: paints face down on shelf

yes. that is the temp they suggest. Lower temps leave it matte and kinda streaky looking. 1500 is smooth and glossy. I am not sure if the same would be achieved slightly lower...

first break in a long time

well, I've been fusing along for a while now, no problems, I was just about to say I think I might be getting the hang of this! BUT, alas, little cracks have infiltrated my latest piece IMG_0284.JPG it is about 4" x 8". All BE glass. I first fused the two base layers together. I don't have...

Re: paints face down on shelf

hello, just wanted to report back on the butterfly wings. I flipped them over, so the face side down was a previously painted (with Glassline) and previously full fused (1500) design of a butterfly wing. I then painted the fae up side, applying the white dots as well and fired it to full fuse (again...
