That box Ron made is incredible. And how generous it was of him to share his techniques.

Re: Double Curve Mold Base

Great subject. I have had this problem too and was wondering how to solve it on some menorahs I made. I fused a second piece to match the curve that was about a half inch wide and glued it to the back hoping that the double thickness would help ... and it did ... but not enough to make a difference.

I have found that venting the kiln to 1000 degrees has helped.

I would listen to the advice above about getting a good blade. Money well spent.

Re: Tile saws for cutting glass

The reviews at Home Depot were good for cutting tiles with this saw. No mention in the specs of the arbor size. Price is right.

New mold

I just got a new double curve mold from Bullseye and they recommended heating it to harden it
before the first use. Never did this with any of my other molds and was wondering if the should
be the norm.

Has anyone tried these menorah candle boots? They are a bit pricey but look very usable.

Re: Why do kiln shelves break?

At one time I was the prez of our local rare fruit growers club and you would not believe the varieties of fruit that can be grown. Amazing stuff. Apple bananas are one of the many banana types that you can grow and seems to be one of the more popular. Egg fruit is a type of sapote.

Cynthia... you are very funny. Of course all fruit is "grown". But stay away from the GMO ones.

Re: Why do kiln shelves break?

I have lived on the Big Island for over 40 years and rarely buy fruit that can be grown (Papaya being one of them) and they taste better than the store bought ones that were picked barely ripe. But it is hard to get a good peach or plum here. Safeway has some organic grapes that are delish but very ...
