Re: painting on glass

I create landscapes with several firings. Wanting to add small highlights, like your angels' eyes, I really didn't want to do a long tack fire again. Recently found that Pebeo Vitrea 160 glass paints, applied with a natural soft brush for a fused glass look, work beautifully for this purpose. Bought...

Re: Tac fuse for pebbles

I think she means fused glass "pebbles" that you make from breaking up a pattern bar or pot melt. Kinda like frit balls. I have used either the 2-layer or the 3-layer fusing schedules for a tack fuse on fusedglass.org Depends on how thick your base circle is and how thick your pebbles are....

Re: MIXING POWDERS

I just purchased this mold to experiment mixing powders and frit. Think maybe I should buy a few more in order to fire all at once in a Skutt Firebox 14. The first trial is using pure reds, both opal and transparent, each in its own square. Dilution and mixing trials will come later. Mold in the kil...

Re: 'Damming ' with iridescent glass

Hi Havi, Also read Dr. Steve Immerman's excellent tutorial on dams. Scroll to the bottom for example of deep work. http://www.clearwaterglass.com/Tutorials/VolumeandFootprint.html He mentions that cutting and fitting the glass with precision is the key. Use a Morton cutting system or similar. Also, ...

Re: 'Damming ' with iridescent glass

Hi Havi, Take a look at Bullseye tip sheet 3 "Working Deep" which uses irid for the sides: https://www.bullseyeglass.com/methods-ideas/tipsheet-3-working-deep.html Experiment with a small pieces, say 4" or 5" square and 1" deep, and see if the results are what you desire. Th...

Re: lace glass

I'd also suggest Paul Tarlow's e-book called "Waste Not! Fused Projects Using Scrap" which contains the chapter "Lacy Glass".

http://fusedglassbooks.com/

His helpful e-books on several subjects are $15 and discounted for 2 or more.

Re: Working Deep : Bullseye Lesson

Thanks all, I have ordered the Graham Stone book from Brad. Cynthia, I have used the expression "smaller than a gnat's *butt" but now will use "smaller than a bee's armpit". :D I'd love to take a class with Catherine! She is coming to BE Bay Area in November but we will be on vac...

Re: Working Deep : Bullseye Lesson

Thank you Steven, Tony and Don! Yes, last year I did the original 22 layers "Working Deep" from the Bullseye Tips Sheet from 2005. Formed a square 6"x6" using crystal clear with Paul Tarlow's "fossil vitra" leaves in transparent powders on several alternating layers. I ...

Dear Warm Glassies of Amazing Knowledge and Helpfulness, I also asked this question on the Bullseye message board connected with their new paid video lesson "Working Deep" which involves building up several up to to many layers of sheet glass. I recently took a wonderful course at Bullseye...

Re: Christmas Tree Decorations

Hi,

Last year I made Christmas trees and stars various sizes, from Gillian Hulse's " Kiln-Formed Glass" book. There are other patterns, like stockings etc in the book.
