Re: lace glass

I make my “lace” on thin fire, I think the thin fire allows the glass to slide better with less friction than a kiln shelf. I use fits, all sizes not powder.

Re: Annealing question

Put it in the freezer, then put it out in the sun. Look at it under a polarized film. Test it to see if there is stress, but in the meantime don't sell it and attach a warning if you gift it. Think about if the risk worth a few additional hours of kiln time.

Stainless Steel for molds?

I'm hoping that someone, one of you experts out there has experience making stainless steel molds/moulds? I recently spoke with my local metal fabricator and he thinks that SS will soften and bend with heat? I assured him it does not soften at slumping (1200F) temperatures, but, I suppose it depends...

Glass rug

100% bullseye glass. 30 inch by 15 inch, 1/2 inch thick. Sandblasted except for the fringe which I treated with etching cream to remove the shine.

Re: La Londe's mold

Vonon -it's not as bad as it sounds! I have 2 of the LaLonde molds; the first one I had made, as per his instructions in book 1, and then a second mold that I later made, as a student in Richards class. I have used the one I made in his class a few times. I feel like it is Richards' design and the e...

Re: La Londe's mold

I have one, I had a metal fabricator make for me as per Richards tutorial in his book. I will sell it for $85 plus shipping. I'm in California. I never used it.

Re: Which Bell Style Kiln would you recommend?

I like the Denver kilns, I bought mine used (10plus years old) and have used it almost every day for 2 years now, it has been great. My Denver is 40 long by 25 inches wide, about 24 inches deep without the shelf, I have separate controllers for top elements and the side elements. I personally would ...

Re: My latest deep slump vessel

I used the deep slump bowl #2 and #3, I started with a 20 inch disc, slumped into my old stainless steel sink mold for the first slump so in total it was slumped 3 times. The finished bowl is 9 inches deep and an inch thick, lots of glass!

My latest deep slump vessel

This piece was done with stringers and frit and one piece of steel blue sheet glass. If you look at the rim you can see the steel color.

Hxtal glue stays clear, great for glueing glass to glass. Did you know that Hang Your Glass glue has a one year shelf life?

Re: BE ball mold?

I've seen the stands intended for food, foods like pizza. My stands are thicker, and I can pull them up or push them down and I can create an angle or make them straight up. Truth is there are times I want something that is of a less intrusive design, like what Cynthia does with the marbles. =D>

I also have noticed that things have dropped off here on WG, and at the same time the facebook pages have lots of action...why would that be? I think the responses to posts here tend to be more honest. The more I know about making (warm) glass the more I want honesty. And maybe this site is less ano...
