Duncan Kiln sitter

:D My husband came home with a kiln from an auction today. It's a pretty good size one. 19" deep and the top measures 22" across. It's a Duncan Kiln Sitter, Automatic Teacher Plus. The only thing is, it needs a new lid. It looks like someone dropped something on top of it. There is a huge ...

New molds

I bought some a couple molds. 2 plates and a bowl. The bottom is stamped with........... Do not heat over 250 degrees/per hour

This seems to me that it'll take forever to get where I want to slump.

Correct or incorrect??

Thanks

COE's

:D Thanks everyone for answering my other post..now I have another question. I've been using strickly either Spectrum 96 fusible or Bullseye fusible. I know NOT to mix the two. But can Wasser fusible (90 COE) be used with Bullseye? So can you use other manufacturers of glass with together as long as...

Dichoric & iridized

:? Could someone tell me the difference between dichroic glass and iridized glass? I have tons of stained glass that is iridized. I'd like to use it for slumping. Can iridized glass be slumped without burning off the iridized coloring? If so, does the iridized coating go face up or face down? Thanks...

Float glass?

:? I'm new and learning the art of fusing. I understand that float glass is window glass or maybe shower door glass but what can you do with it? How do you go about adding color to it with frits or other glass when you don't know the COE of the float glass? I have tons of window panes around here. I...

Thank you for all your help and replies. I am going to get some Raku clay and try my hand at making some simple molds.

One more question...how do you store the unused clay? Should it be put in a fridge? or basement? I've looked for a message board on clay but can't seem to locate one.

Confused again......

 If I was to get some Raku clay, make a shape that I want....will air drying be enough to harden it?

I've read that Raku clay fires at 1823-1855 degrees.
My kiln only goes to 1800 deg.

Glass and ceramic

I just received my glass kiln today. I'm wanting to slump some leaf and flower shapes but I can't seem to find any molds for this. Is it possible to buy clay, make my own mold/design, put it in my kiln-dry (or whatever you do for clay )and then use it to slump glass into it? Has anyone ever do...

New to fusing

:?: HI...I'm new to the world of fusing. I took 1 class last month. My JenKen kiln should arrive tomorrow according to the UPS tracking numbers that I was given. I'm just thrilled! My question is....I haven't found any molds to slump in. I'm interested in leaf and flower molds. I was told that I cou...
