Re: Kokomo for fusing?
Terry- That's a tall order. Does Kokomo date their batches and number their sheets? Do they do any testing? Are they interested in testing for compat.? We'd be working in the dark unless they started formulating for fusing and keeping track of their stock. From the Facebook FGF post that I mentione...

Re: Kokomo for fusing?
Just perfect to have shifing COE. So to go to all the work and then have a piece crack? #-o ](*,) :-k Agreed. I added a caution to her post about the need for the fuser to TEST TEST TEST. However, I imagine for most of the folks who read the info, their take home message will be that Kokomo is comp...

Re: Kokomo for fusing?
Just this week Jackie Pferrer posted on Fused Glass Fanatics (FB) about a free seminar she took at JRing on using Kokomo for fusing. I think the gist of it was that it is 96 COE, but not tested-compatible. There are a lot of caveats around devit, with the general recommendation being to coat sheets ...

Re: Help with crack
A picture would help. You mention a black band, but you don't mention what other colors of glass. Also, how large is your kiln? If the 16x16" piece is close to the walls of the kiln near a heating element, then yes, you might need to slow things down. As it was a fused piece of glass, some of t...

I have Melody's dark pink rose on a black base... (I think that is it). It is the most beautiful piece I ever received in the maglesses.

Thank you both for the kind comments. I met with the Reverend and her "elder council" last night. They loved the bowl and felt I had captured the essence of their church in my design. I took along samples of other glasses in blues and whites and they chose the blue/white/clear Spirit glass...

I rarely post my work here because you guys are all so talented, but in honor of Spectrum, here ya' go. Wellspring... It reminds me of a spring, bubbling brook, beginnings, origins... Glass is System 96. 16" in diameter. The main ground is Spectrum's amazon green wispy. Blue/green/white Spirit ...

Sad, indeed. I wish them all the best. Hopefully, someone will pick up their product line, but there are only a couple of alternatives within the industry. I wonder how Uro is standing financially... probably not all that great if they are paying legal bills and likely facing many of the challenges ...

Re: Medium size clam shell
I have a Paragon Fusion 14, which is a similar kiln in size and voltage. Think about how you will use the kiln... a 14" firebrick kiln is a lot of thermal mass to heat on 120V. My Fusion 14 is great for normal fusing, but it struggles with high temp work such as pot melts or combing. It can't e...

Re: Intermediate Glass Fusing Class - Suggestions?
Wow... 2 hours for an intermediate class? You would barely scratch the surface of any topic. Does it need to be hands-on or just lecture? How about pattern bars? -- design, layup, firing schedule, how to cut them, lots of examples. Throw a 5x5" together, fire it for them, and they can pick it u...

Re: Cooling small glass pieces - AFAP?
When I am fusing simple small pieces (1" cabs, frit balls) in my SC2, I will ramp anywhere from 500 to 1500 deg/hr to the top temp, hold, and turn off.
Works for me, YMMV.

Re: How best to cut 6mm glass?
I will have to look into different runners. Yesterday I cut some 6 mm , 1/2" wide strips (two 3 mm sheets, fused). I tried to break them initially with my Silberschnitts and worried I was going to break the runners, though I don't know that I have the hand strength. I finally resorted to the Mo...

I have cut many, many more than 20 circles with my Silberschnitt since I've had it. I am only on my second cutter head on the "turret".

Re: Silbertschnitt vs Fletcher-Terry circle cutter - experiences?
I love my turret head cutter .
I will ask the same question back... with any cutter, how do you know it's time to change the wheel, other than you start having issues with cutting/breaking glass.
