Re: New Powder Paintings - Landscapes

These are very pretty. Is there an instructor out there that teaches this? I don't think I would be very good at the 'sand to glass' technique.

Re: My favorite person/Show and Tell

I cut out all the parts for snowmen ornaments and fused them to round the sharp edges and I made 'rounds' for the snowmen and triangles for trees. I also put eyes on some. Then I took the parts to school and let the students glue them on a square clear 3x3 blank. Then I tack fused them. The kids lov...

Re: Dichroic Extract

If it is anything like their Dichroic copper foil I am having a tough time with it staying under the clear frit. It is very light and is prone to static electricity. It comes on a sheet of copper foil and it just slides off the copper in a very thin sheet (it breaks up very easily though) The one I ...

Re: Glass questions

Thank You, does Uroboros have sells like BE. They have very nice clear glass with no bubbles, It makes a beautiful cap. I have looked for sales for them but have never found one. I haven't used Spectrum for fusing because I started out with 90 COE. Not really realizing there was a more local company...

Re: Glass questions

Morganica, I am curious, I live by Seattle and I didn't realize they manufacture fusing glass here. I have a couple of retailers that I go to. I always come down to Oregon for the BE sales and I purchase little in between.

Re: Remake frit painting

This is what I would love to learn to do. I have used Michael Dupilles technique but I want my picture to have NO bubbles....I did oil painting many years back and love these results in glass. Your piece is beautiful.

Re: cold working by hand

Thank you very much for all of that information. A few months ago I did purchase the book ' Coldworking glass without machines' but there was no real indication of time it takes from my reading. I am curious when you mentioned sealing the glass what you did to seal it. And the photo you put on is be...

Re: cold working by hand

Thank you Jerry, an interesting concept, I would not have thought of grinding glass dry at all. I am sure I have seen one of these in my husbands tools....hmmm, I shall try it but I do realize I can only sand a little at a time so it doesn't get too hot. Thank you...Delberta

Re: cold working by hand

Thank You Brock. I was afraid the 60 would make too deep of scratches....Soooo I am guessing I wouldn't want to do a whole set of 8 items by hand....??? They are for myself and I am not trying to sell them.

cold working by hand

Can anyone give me an idea of time I would be looking at for cold working a flat piece about 12" square by using diamond hand pads? Probably just the top side and edge. Am I looking at sanding for a continuous hour, or am I looking at 3 hours? or more? I have 60, 200, and 800 grit diamond pads....

Re: Screen Melts

Very QUICKLY... LOL I am going to use a glove and long handle plyers or something. I put the screen on bricks so I might even just be able to grab it out. :-k It should help with the little glass spikes that are sticking up too.

Re: removing bottle labels Q?

I soak the paper part of the label off then get the gummy stuff off with Simple Green cleaner. it does very well. It takes a bit of scrubbing but comes right off.

Re: Screen Melts

This is my plan for my next screen melt...I am going to take the screen out of the kiln before the glass cools enough to harden, probably right after I am satisfied with the melt. The tricky part is where am I going to put it? I think it would be hot enough to start a fire upon contact with paper an...
