A-14?

I’m returning to fused glass from a long absence. I found something called A-14. What is it? No instructions on bottle.

Re: New Studio Layout & Design

Hi In my other life when I had a really nice studio since I had a lot of open floor space and less wall space I purchased the metal shelves with the particle board shelves. The shelves were 2 feet deep and 4 feet long. I divided this into two parts. At the one end had one of the particle board at th...

Re: Uneven bowl slumping

Jolly
I don't slump any faster than 200 dph. Only thing I slump faster is plates because they are so shallow.

Re: Go and stop and go? Or just go?

I only do holds on the way up to 1100 if the piece is very thick and it is my second firing. I am a slow firer so I don't need holds. I use a bubble squeeze almost all the time just because that is what works in my kiln. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Re: Sandblasting devit, still want a shiny surface-how?

One other thought. Don't use Spray A in surfaces that will have food on them. Sprray A contains lead so isn't food safe. Nanc

Re: clay sticking in glass

Jerry you might have to break away the clay pot very carefully. I thought the rule was slump into clay and over stainless because of the expansion contraction. I could be wrong on this one. That clay pot might be just to tight to come off. I sure would try filling the pot with ice and putting the gl...

The easiest way is to put a loop of wire in the neck of the bottle before you slump it. High fire wire, stainless steel. or copper wires all work.

Susan, Another thing to do to the edges of ground glass or glass cut with a saw is to scrub the edges with wet fine sandpaper under water. I use a plastic dish pan filled with water and thourghly sand the edges under water then rinse them well. You can't rush this step. I have never tried super spra...

That will work. I have attached them with a number of different things. The thing is you can't wash them because of the label maybe getting wet no matter what you use. I have used permanent glues that are sprayed on the bottle or put on the label with good results too. The hardest thing is getting t...

Contact lenses and kiln work

I was told by my eye Doc that he thought it might be advangtages for me to wear contacts instead of getting the corrective surgery that is so popular right now. I am concerned about any ill effects wearing contacts when looking in the hot kiln, with protective glasses of course. Those of you that we...

Thanks Brad.

I asked because I have been trying to do pot melts and would like to remove the pot after it is empty or as big as I want my melt. I also liked your idea of throwing some frit on a circle of glass.

Brad, How would one go about getting the pot out of the kiln. I have tried to move glass a little on a floral former with my welding glove. Burned it in about a second so I know I wouldn't pick the pot up with the glove. Would I use tongs where would I get them a welders supply? Sorry to be so unkno...

I've been read all about the up and coming WGW in Corning. It is a few hours away from me so I might be able to come. What should I expect? I am fairly new (about a year) to the board and have no idea what I should expect other than a good time. Are there classes and if so what should I expect to pa...

Warner_Crivellaro a sponsor of this list has what they call wholesale. It is good for those that want price breaks but can't do the Ed Hoy thing. I believe that the first purchase has to be $500. and your first glass purchase $300. The $300 glass purchase can be part of the $500. I don't believe tha...
