large kiln preference

I have procrastinated long enough, or even too long, before committing to increase the power supply in my studio and buying a larger kiln. My 240V Olympic 314TLC with a 23" shelf cannot accommodate the panels I have been asked to make. I have researched and read all threads on this forum relate...

Re: How best to cut 6mm glass?

Dana, they do look like my Leponitts, I use them a lot, like them a lot! ---and you know I am not Superwoman!
I use them for most of my strip cutting, even 3or 4 mm glass.

Re: La Londe's mold

Why not make a clay circle and shape according to LaLonde's instruction, might be easier or less intimidating to work with, also less expensive.

Re: French Cleats or Hanging glass panels

Havi,
I really do like these!

sandblast or rough up back of cleat, you do not have to sandblast glass, just make sure it is clean.
use a tiny bit of adhesive--- more is NOT better!

Re: Making a Vitrigraph Kiln

Love my Olympic Hotsie kiln!
I use it only as vitrigraph kiln, the new collar gives it more heighth than the Caldera has, all sorts of new options opening up!

Thank you, Brad for finding the collar for me, it is clicking along right now with a pot full of 'goodies'!

Caldera collar on Olympic hotsie kiln

I have been using my Olympic Hotsie kiln for pulling murrini, however, the Hotsie's chamber height of 4.5" is somewhat restricting and I would like to increase it. The dimensions of a Caldera blank collar would fit in order to stack it on my Hotsie, giving me a new heighth of 8.5". Collar ...

Re: Do I Need Lid Assist?

Unless you are a big, strong guy or macho woman, you really want a lift assist! Wish I had one but my Olympic is a bit older and cannot be modified!--- So we are working on the counter weight idea, a big hassle when your kiln sits in the middle of the garage (overhead is the space where the door rol...

I recently bought some wheels from Brad, http://www.warmglass.org/servlet/the-Wheels-for-lathe/Categories have not had a chance to try them yet, still setting up my new 'Baby Denver' ---Denver SAG1--- but used Brad's wheels in his studio and was happy with them, also bought a couple of carving wheel...

Covington or Denver Lathe?

I am the luckiest person under the sun! A new lathe is on the horizon for me and now I am agonizing about the choice to make. Should it be the Covington 4013 or the Denver SAG1? Building my own is not an option and those beautiful Spatzier and Merkers are out of the $$ question! Since I do not quite...
