Re: Restoring glass after grinding and edge

In this case, I'm thinking your grinder head is probably too coarse for the work you're trying to do. More than likely it won't take more than a couple of licks with some wet-dry sandpaper or a fine diamond hand-pad to knock off a sharp slumped edge. I'd try 400- or 600- grit to start, go very care...

Re: Boiling Glass?

This is the web page that I think is originating a lot of questions:

Re: impression tile and rimmed dish mold

So yeah, in this case probably not annealing long enough. I think there's too much going on with the whole mold & texture imprint thing to anneal for only 45 min. Plus, the bottom got pretty thin, which would add stress.

Re: Restoring glass after grinding and edge

cold work. if you use diamond hand pads and a cerium pad at the end you can get a fairly nice finish, though it may not be as shiny as you like. you can *try* fire polishing with the piece supported in the mold, however in my experience, this results in a distorted lump of glass since the fire polis...

Re: Delphi Mold Disaster- Suggestions please :)

holes like this are either a volume issue or an air escape issue. I'm not convinced that all delphi's products have fuser's best interests in mind. the provided schedule doesn't include a bubble squeeze, which you'd need if you didn't have a pre fused solid blank for the bottom. Also, looks like you...

YES. This literally just happened - asking why a project blew massive bubbles and then in a separate post talks about the class he's teaching... great.

Re: "Dumbing down" of glass art?

I just 'reactivated' my log in info here because of this exact issue. I KNOW I don't know everything, but when multiple people are telling you your schedules are jacked or you shouldn't mix 90 with 96 and you refuse to listen... yeah. Plus, no one wants to figure out how to do things on their own. A...

Re: Boiling Glass?

You are right, it doesn't actually boil.

It also has been giving mixed results... and not all are good.

I haven't done it, but supposedly you can do it with baking soda or borax (I can't recall the exact formula) if you don't have the bubble powder.

Re: Chads

As the others have said, unless you can make them really REALLY small or plan to cut them off, they are obvious. I prefer the powder between layers method.

Re: SUDDENLY ...air bubbles..SUGGESTIONS PLEASE?

is there any possibility that your shelf has a small dip in it? perhaps you were using one side and flipped it?

while it's a workaround, a very fine sifting of clear powder between the layers can help prevent bubbles.

i would like to see your schedule...

I like this. It's simple, but that organic ribbon draws me in.
