Charlie, the soak you refer to is on the slump fire?
Do you do this on the ramp up or on the ramp down?
Are you both saying that you slump at ~1225? Are you using bullseye?

Hi Sande, I also use a ceramic kiln. You can get a pyrometer (sp?) and probe (thermocouple) for less then $100. I drilled a hole in my peep hole plug to put the probe through. This lets me monitor the temp in the kiln and adjust the infinite switch accordingly. I think you are going to have to monit...

Charlies right! I had a bowl that was great except I thought it should be a bit more shiney (is that a word?), any way, my bowl is now a needlely mess that distorted the pattern on the way down. I'll be making it's replacement this weekend. :roll:
