M-97 versus Slide 1800

Hi All,

I am making now using M-97 for some molds. I have seen something called Slide Hi-Temp 1800. Can I use that on the same molds that I have been using M-97?
Thanks,
Susan

Re: Glass questions

Morganica thank you so much. I guess for the time being will stick to what i have been using. I have a small work shop and I am toying with the idea of using 96, a supplier fairly close to me has BE90 and S96 in stock but the 96 seems to be a little less expensive. I just do not have a lot of space ...

Glass questions

Hi All, I need to order some glass and had some questions. Once a long time ago an instructor mention 3mm double rolled was the best to use in his opinion. Can any of you tell me what are the most common uses for the different types of glass single rolled ? double rolled ? thin ? 3mm ? 6mm? anything...

Re: Schedule help and other questions.

Me again, I guess I should have also said. This kiln has a Rampmaster II control on it. I am not exactly sure if I can peek into the kiln without messing up the schedule and if the piece has gotten to the point of where I would like it to be...then what? If I close the kiln lid I guess the kiln woul...

Re: Schedule help and other questions.

Okay all, Sorry about the terminology.."flattened out too much"... I did want a full fuse, not a tack fuse. I do think I could have full fused in a shorter time or lower temp. I think it could have been fully fused and still not been as fully fused as it seemed ( i know that sounds crazy b...

Re: Schedule help and other questions.

The items were not very big and I did not see any bubbles, I used french vanilla and woodland brown. I am very new at this and I was using a schedule from one of my suppliers (a general schedule for fusing). My kiln is an Evenheat GTS 2541 9" deep. Any other suggested schedules would be greatly...

Schedule help and other questions.

I made sushi dishes (2) and used BE glass two layers. I wanted a full fuse, the schedule I used was 300-1150- 30; 200 -1370-20; 400 -1480- 20; 9999- 950-60; 150- 800-10; 300-100 -0. This seem to fuse too much it looked okay but I thought they were flatened out too much. I have an evenheat kiln with ...

Stainless Steel Mold

Hi All, I found an 18/10 (well 18 something), oneida bowl in a thrift store. It is oval shaped and not very deep. Can I use it for slumping, or draping? Does it need a hole or two drilled? I do know I need to use a glass separator and I believe someone once told I you could use stainless steel bowls...

vermiculite boards

Hi All, I purchased two vermiculite boards from a company that sells refractory materials. I was told this is the board he most often sells to glass hobbist. I know this is not much information but do any of you know if I should possibly pre-fire? If so hot long and to what temp? I suppose I will ne...

High Temp wire for fusing in bottles

Can anyone tell me what type of wire and gauge I need to use in the neck of bottles while slumpying? I have used 20 gauge copper from craft stores and it flakes, turns black and isn't strong enough to hold the bottle weight. Any suggestions on where to purchase necessary wire?

Thanks,

Susan
