Re: Hang your Glass glue

Went to my brother's for Christmas and was pleasantly surprised to see that he had hung an 18 x 48 inch wall piece we had gifted them last Christmas. Was sad to see that the Hang Your Glass Adhesive had turned a sort of orangish-yellowish color that could be seen through the transparent areas. I had...

Re: Cutting circles out of textured glass

Not a solution, but a work around: When you first put that suction cup down, trace it with a sharpie. That way you can reposition and re-secure the suction cup as necessary to finish the score.

Re: What you cannot live without...

I don't have a big, fancy studio - just one converted bay in the garage, but the three things I most love are warm, running water, additional ceiling outlets for both electrical and air, with extension cords/hoses that allow me flexibility in the use of my space and the ceiling mounted air filtratio...

Re: Deep vessel

I think this is just simply stunning! You mentioned that you took the class at Bullseye - was this done in their 3 step mold system? Can you explain a bit more about the 'manipulation' that must be done?

Thanks!

Re: Glass Decals

Sorry, I'm of no help to you Emily, but I've been to their website several times and just haven't convinced myself to take the plunge yet - I'm really looking forward to learning how the process goes for you and hope that you'll be willing to share your results here!

Re: Do I Need Lid Assist?

I also have the Skutt 1414. It was a classroom model at Glass Expo and came with the lid assist. Once it made it home and was set up, I was absolutely SHOCKED at how heavy the lid was! It was a two hand/arm/bend and lift with your legs kind of operation. All I could think was what an inconvenience i...

I use them. I purchased from Seattle Pottery and they happily cut them to size before shipping.

Re: Bubble squeeze?

I meant Tekta clear glass from Bullseye. We do not use it......but if you do ......... sorry I was typing too fast for my own good! Ahhh - interesting. I've been having some devit issues of late - been through the whole rigamarole of possibilities, cleaning processes, type of cleaner, type of rags,...

That is what mine is.
Yes....the piece had been set up for quite some time. It was rather difficult to remove the glass from the hardware....but once apart the acetone/razor blade made short work of the residue.

Had an E6000 removal situation just yesterday - a bit of acetone and a razor blade takes it right off.

Re: making cabochon with coin inclusion?

I'll fess up...........tried it with pennies shortly after I got my first kiln about a year ago......ICK! They were more recent pennies - so high zinc content - and the reaction was sort of like a bubbling fizzy mess - not at all salvageable with any sort of coldworking. The resulting 'fizzyish' mat...

Re: Las Vegas Glass Expo

I did pick up a new (bigger) kiln, though. It was a demo kiln used in Patty Gray's class - I'm quite excited to have it arrive next week. My 16" Paragon has been a real workhorse, and great for learning with, but I really have been coveting more space and depth! Did you take Patty's class? I t...

Re: Las Vegas Glass Expo

I had some amazing classes, and like Margaret, I also had a dud or two thrown in there - but what fun! And I did learn something in every class, even the less than stellar ones. I came home completely exhausting - maybe because we squeezed some client meetings into the trip as well - and overflowing...

Re: Las Vegas Glass Expo

Lucky you! I had heard that his classes fill up rather quickly. I get in on Tuesday night and fly out on Sunday. Also have classes scheduled the whole week - worried that maybe I booked myself up too much and won't get to 'browse' the hall - first timer who wasn't thinking when she was salivating ov...
