Re: Brock Craig has passed on.

So Jim what was the class you wanted to take from Brock? Was it one he was prevented from US travel to? You were on the board for a long enough time to 'know everything" weren't you? Perhaps the collective memories of old time board members could help? That Was the one, Irid on Irid with Avery...

Re: Brock Craig has passed on.

Very Sorry to hear this..one of my greatest disappointments was his inability to teach a class I was supposed to take from him.He was free with his knowledge and a pioneer in glass fusing. He will be missed.

Polishing Question

Hi, I am trying to get a clear polish on all sides with a Somaca wet belt sander, I am wondering if I can use cerium oxide with my Cork belt? Can't seem to find a 4x106 felt belt. THANKS

Re: Duraboard as elevated second shelf?

FYI..I routinely fire 2 levels in my kiln I fire to 1385 to tack fuse on the shelf, and use the floor under the shelf to slump, this seems to work well, but there is a good bit of difference in the temp.

Re: Silver Fuming

While it did react, and there was some Halo, it wasn't nearly as intense as on the glass itself. Tried several different thicknesses of the powder, but it distorted the transparency in relation to its depth. So, these will just cost more in the future. So the answer is Yes, but....

I have made pieces in the past with Silver foil on BE reactive Ice and gotten a nice fume pattern. I am wondering if I use Tekta and Reactive Ice powder with Silver it will give a similar effect?

HD Fiber Board

I need to replace the Fiber Board lid on my Glassglow kiln. It doesn't look too hard, just need to find some materia,l looks as if I need a 30x48" piece 2" thick. It doesn't appear there are any other support for this other than the edges, so rigidity is importa.nt. Suggestions?
