BE 1411, anyone knows????
Hello good friends, Lately I bought some glass sheets, from someone who closed his workshop, . Among them BUllseye 1411 - which looks reddish. It does not appear on the online catalog, and/ or the written catalog of BE. But it HAS a BE label on it! Can anyone tell me what it is? Many thanks in advan...

Re: Shall I buy a new kiln???
Thanks, Don!
You are right! I'd better save $$$ for glass. or classes or similar.
The kiln is what I chose. Unfortunately at that time they did not have yet [or perhaps I was not aware of] the "Bell Kiln"
Anyway glass and other working material is preferable.
Thanks for the logic!

Re: Shall I buy a new kiln???
Thanks Fiona, For your response and advice! Lately I talked to the owner of Jen Ken, and for the time being I shall stay with what I have. However, I am grateful for you response, and keep it in mind while considering again changing the kiln. I love the 24" Bell kiln, I do not want anything big...

Shall I buy a new kiln???
Hello everybody............. My kiln is giving me trouble. It ia about 12 years old... JenKen 24" squarish. Was made especially for me with almost every element changed to suit the Israeli / European electricity. I assume something went wrong with the elctricity,- i/e/ with the relays. Luckily ...

FIRING SCHEDULES / GRAHAM STONE
Hi everybody I am re-firing a piece which thermal shocked on me. I neglected to realize that the piece, already fused before , was quite thick in its middle - and I should slow the firing... So I found in the kiln 5 pieces instead of one. I found this out at a relatively early stage, so I stopped th...

Like i said.
I also had a lot of problems, once I annealed thicker, a bit thicker pieces at 900.
I wonder if others have also notices it....

Re: How open should the kiln be
Thanks,Brad
However, I am not worried about the color of the lid, as much as I am worried that the lid is getting ruined by being fired like this.
Can you comment on this, Brad? Will the lid be warped being exposed directly to the heat?

Annealing
Hello everybody
I found, the hard way, that if I anneal a piece which is 0.75", or thicker, it is safer for me to use annealing soak at 960 degrees, rather than the 'new' schedule to do the soak at 900 degrees.
Has anyone else noted this difference?
Many thanks,
Havi

How open should the kiln be
Hello everybody' I am firing with glues and staff which has bad fumes which should be ventilated. It was advised to keep the kiln open to let the fumes out. I am using my paragon kiln 1 7" dia. It has a new lid , I believe it is made of fiber. It seems to have burnt at the edges when I kept the ...

Re: METHYL CELLULOSE or CMC
Thank you "know All" Brad!!
Just copied to my notebook LaLonde's instructions.
However, I am asking if it is possible to make a thickened glue NOT from CMC but from METHYL CELLULOSE.... Is it the same, or different?
Many thanks,
Havi
ps look for a pm from me

METHYL CELLULOSE or CMC
Hello everybody!
Can I make glue, for glass, mixing methyl cellulose with water??? [Actually I am seeking a way to create something like gel i.e. thicker than regular liquid glue]
Or
Does it have to be mixing CMC with water???
Of course, with the right proportions.
Many thanks in advance,
Havi

Re: WHAT HAPPENNED HERE?
No I am not crash cooling the kiln . Generally speaking I do an extremely conservative annealing, and before, I allow the kiln to cool down to the anneal temp.by its own ability [sometimes 515C, sometimes 482C] I do pip sometimes, when the temp. is going down, but this is really no more than 2 secon...

WHAT HAPPENNED HERE?
Hello guys.... I am posting 2 photos of a small place in my kiln. I suspect something bad had happened and I should call the electrician. Can you comment? A short while ago I had a relay problem, following your advice changes ALL the 3 relays. Is my kiln getting old? Should I consider buying a new o...

Re: TO RE-FIRE OR NOT TO RE-FIRE
Hello, Please see the photo I put on my previous post. - - - - - - - After 32:07 hours I took out of the kiln ONE piece.... [quite an exaggeration in conservative schedule] Of course I am happy, or shall we say satisfied, but still quite suspicious, I really do not know what will happen in a week ti...
