Re: Mica fusing
you don't need to cover the mica with anything. I've had good success even doing the mica on top and not capping at all. just depends on the look you are going for.

Re: Website
you certainly do not need an artist's statement, in fact you don't "need" anything. it's your website so you should present it in any way that you want. I think the most important thing when showcasing art is good pictures which are easy to navigate. also have it obvious how people can get...

haze left after stuck kiln wash is removed
this is probably an easy one for you experts... I hope this can be fixed.... I made a flat piece with translucent glass (clear layer on bottom). there was lots of kiln wash stuck to the back which I effectively removed soaking in vinegar. but, there is a haze left where some of the kiln wash was. th...

Re: I too had a fusing disaster
they are not on the bottom. it seems like it was air trapped in between the 2 layers of glass.

Re: I too had a fusing disaster
yes, it's my friend's kiln and she has used this particular program many times with no problems. it's supposed to be "slow full fuse" I just don't see how the air bubbles could have formed.

I too had a fusing disaster
IMG_2461.jpg what could cause multiple large bubbles in a piece which is simply two pieces of glass on top of each other with no inclusions? I used the slow full fuse program that has been used perfectly many many times. could there have been dirt between the layers to cause the large bubbles? how ...

Re: Help -- Glass on Glass (w/out use of kiln) Question
ha ha, no offense intended, the comment was meant about me not being "real". anyway, the suggestion to use epoxy grout came from a gal named Cindi. I'll see if I can post her picture...ok, does the picture have to be "hosted" someplace? I have it on y desktop and will post if I c...

Re: Help -- Glass on Glass (w/out use of kiln) Question
here is input from the other gal I asked... You could use Mac as long as you grouted with epoxy grout...Lexel is good, but stinky and if you are using large pieces you will get bubbles and/or skrinkage....which can be an interesting look (see my splotch cat ). That's my 2 cents. Have fun and would l...

Re: avoiding sag in a mold
I am guessing so wait for a more experienced person to answer... lol. I am thinking it's sagging because it's too hot for too long. I bet your cutting is fine. can you slump at a lower temp than you used here?

I do mosaics and I believe real mosaic artists use Mac glue for gog. I will check with some of my mosaic friends to confirm.

Re: Dichro frit?
well CBS is now selling dichro dust, but it's very pricey. otherwise there would be no way to actually make sure the dichro side of frit is facing up, I mean how would you do that??? this is why I don't use dichro frit, even though I am a huge dichro fan.

Re: Help - stamping on glass
I do stamping on fused glass often. I use mica mixed into hair spray. it's not perfect but it gets me where I want to go mostly. oh and I have had good luck with it not capped as well as capped.

latest and greatest kiln
I've been heavily into fusing for about 6 months and have outgrown my very small kiln. I'd like recommendations for the latest and greatest. my only real constraint is space, but if I could fuse something 18" I'd be ecstatic. I need the smallest footprint and want lots of digital programs as we...

Re: Fusing Bullseye dichroic highlight - any tips?
I often fuse dichro without a cap. it looks wonderful! depending on what you use you can get really interesting texture. I would not use it for eating, only a decorative plate.
