Art Jewelry Magazine would be a good place to start.

Re: silver and glass

if you use fine silver it will stay bright silver colored. if you use sterling silver it turns ugly. I embed fine silver hangers into pendants all the time.

I'd ask Spectrum who their resellers are. they will be glad to help you buy their product!

Re: Can you recommend a glass grinder for a newbie?

I am a relative newbie. Bought a Gryphette and it meets my basic grinding needs, but I don't grind much... the price is low and it does the job.

Re: Does this fusing mold need air holes?

I doubt it needs holes. I full fuse onto a texture plate and there are no holes and it's fine. Also, I've got plenty of shallow slump molds that don't have holes.

Re: Glassline Paper - need advice about hold time

they recommended 960 which was the old recommendation for annealing. now that the updated recommendation is 900 I adjusted. that's why I mentioned that the instructions were old : )

Re: Glassline Paper - need advice about hold time

thanks Brad and James. I did use little chads in the corners as they recommend. I'll know how it worked out tonight.
just fyi, here is what the directions said, except I changed their 960 to 900 (old directions!)
250/1000/4h
250/1470/15m
999/900/1h
250/200/0

Re: Glassline Paper - need advice about hold time

I decided to just go with the instructions and just set it up with the 4 hour hold.

Glassline Paper - need advice about hold time

the directions say to hold at 1000 for 4 hours. that seems like a very long time. my piece is 6.5" square. how long would you bubble squeeze it for? also, will the other pieces in my kiln load be ok with that kind of soak? or is 4 hours perfectly normal and acceptable?

Re: Slump Fail

agreed it's a tricky mold. I have that mold and the 2 times I used it were not successful. my issue both times was an air bubble in the center probably caused by holding too long and letting the air under there heat up rather than escape. besides the bubble in the center the sides were perfect!

maybe try a different brand of kiln wash. I use Hotline Primo and have this problem a lot too. people have told me this brand does that.

Re: New

a couple of you mentioned how much you love the window... please help newbie... I can't see jack through my window. it's too small and there is no light in the kiln for much of the time. do you shine a flashlight into the window so you can see anything. my window was a waste of $60.
