Re: Spectrum Icicle Glass

I've been using it. I don't really notice a difference, to be honest. Maybe it's baaarely noticeable when it's two pieces fused together, but...

Re: Sandblasted, cold worked, want to shine it up

LOL That's actually the type of thing I have patience for and love doing - I may try something like it someday. I'll add it to my list of 4,523,265 things I want to do someday...

I love how that looks!!! Is it tacky and in poor form to ask how it's done?

Re: Hanging a fused glass panel

What about drilling small (1/8") holes and using a very small gauge wire?

Re: New Colour Bar Flow Casting to slice

Just to make sure I understand - you take the volume of the space, and calculated the proper weight of the glass you needed to put in it. You then took the different colors and frit and put them in, and there was a bit more that would fit so you have some on top. Am I right? Was there any particular...

Re: Volume of glass question

I THINK that you don't mean the edge of the dish, but the edge of the blue as it goes across the plate, and that's what I based my answer on. The part of the blue closest to the dicroic widens slightly due to displacement, and that's what I based my answer on.

I bought an 8" square kiln and said this.

Then I bought a 15" octagon kiln... And still say this! :)

Re: Volume of glass question

you could fuse it upside down without the dicro and with the blue cut, and use an 1/8" fiber piece to "take up the space", then flip and fuse with the dicro where the fiber piece was.

Re: ceramic and porcelain tiles as dams?

A VERY inexpensive new kiln shelf option is to look on Amazon for cheap pizza stones, and buy those and cut them up. I bought three 13", and cut one up for dams, and all have been used several times and work perfectly. The $12 I spent on each pizza stone was better than the $30 for a kiln shelf...

<off topic> funny, I have fused apple suncatchers a friend bought for his wife. She wanted butterflies, and four people said "Ohhhh, butterflies!" so fine, I'll do butterflies. </off topic> I think people are a little afraid of stained glass works. They NORMALLY only see them in churches a...

Re: Ugh, yet another tile saw question! :)

I thought it was pretty darn parallel, but I will definitely check it with a metal ruler, or something that I know is a dead on straight line. I added a pretty thick washer - the table isn't adjustable, or the blade height, so I'm pretty limited on how big a washer (stiffener) I can use. I'll see if...

Ugh, yet another tile saw question! :)

I have a MK-145 table saw http://www.mkdiamond.com/tile/saw_145.html . I finally got a nice, very thin blade for it, from Daniel Lopacki (someone here recommended). I believe it's .008. The problem I'm having is that the moment the blade touches the glass, the blade curves to the right (looking at i...

Re: E6000

I did just that - glued magnets to glass pieces that weren't supposed to have them. Threw them in the kiln at 500. GAWD-awful smoke, not sure what temp as I turned it off.. The inside of the kiln turned black. The magnets came off the glass, the glass cleaned up just fine, the magnets were trash. Fi...

I doubt they're open today, but try contacting Bartlett tomorrow, instead of the kiln manufacturer?
