Re: Custom Molds for Thermoforming

Lynn,

I have never used the 110J fiber sheets. Can you please explain how it would work to slump a shallow bowl?

Thanks

How to make a slump mold? or Using a bisque ceramic mold?

Hello, I can't seem to find a commercially available slump mold in the shape I'd like. I'm looking to do something in sort of a leaf shape and relatively small (approximately 4" long). What would be the best material to create such a mold for myself? Also, if I find something like this in a cer...

Re: Frit Tinting and Bubble Elimination

I feel like tinting frit ends up the opposite of what one thinks in terms of bubbles. Whenever I make samples, I tint powder (08) and fine frit (01) using Bullseye glass. The samples made with 08 come out more homogeneous, albeit opaque. I almost always have bubbles in the fine frit samples. The tim...

Re: Tack fusing powder wafers

Yes, I am talking about fine frit. I'm using Bullseye. I'll check with them to see if they have info on which colors melt at higher or lower temperatures.

Thanks Cynthia!

Tack fusing powder wafers

Is it possible to tack fuse a wafer and not lose the granular appearance, and end up with something that can withstand handling (eg ornaments)? I've been experimenting and haven't gotten it right yet.

Re: sharing my choices of protective clothing for combing

Are you saying that you are going to coat the pins with pyrolite first, then insert the pins into the firebrick? Please let us know how that works out for you.

Re: Quenching glass

Thanks. I guess I should have also asked, will the bowl spall? I'm wondering how much of a mess I want to deal with.

Quenching glass

I want to make frit from some old, failed pate de verre pieces by quenching the glass. In the archives I saw the idea of placing glass in a stainless steel bowl when firing it to 1000 degrees. Do you need to spray the bowl with something first to prevent the glass from sticking? Thanks
