Re: California Homeowners Insurance

Leslie,

I was able to get a liability policy for my business through State Farm. I did already have a long standing homeowners policy with them though, which might have helped. It also covers my equipment in case of loss during disaster.

Re: Building a glass storage cabinet

duly noted, Tony, thanks for the input. I'm bolting them together and probably to the wall as well. Fortunately, I only use half sheets but usually smaller. If I see it's going to be a problem, I could mount them on a sold layer of plywood for extra support.

Re: Building a glass storage cabinet

Thank you everyone! Cynthia- you are one organized artist :). Loved all your studio pics. I think I got you beat with the sheer amount of stuff I've got to pack away in my new digs! Andy- Bullseye called. They're running out of glass because you have it all in your stacks! :) Barb- I went to my loca...

Building a glass storage cabinet

The final phases of my studio revamp are upon me and one of the few things left is the construction of a slotted glass storage cabinet. I've scoured the internet for ideas/plans etc, but was wondering if anyone had some good leads on this. Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!...

Re: Keeping the drains clear

I ordered the Gleco for my studio redo. I learned from the sediment in my Revolution saw tray just how rock-like that swarf can get and didn't want to repeat the experience in my new sewer line!

Keeping the drains clear

Hello all,

I'm currently revamping my glass studio and need to install some sort of trap on my drain to prevent glass powder from clogging my sewer line. What contraption and/or device and/or brand do you all use? Is it an easy DIY? Thanks in advance!

Re: Alternate Frit Maker - any downsides?

I tried the coffee grinder method with an extra grinder I had sitting around. After 10 batches or so, the blades had worn down to short nubs and the frit produced had to be cleaned with a magnet as well as rinsed in water to get out the blackish residue. A real PITA (actually cheaper to buy the frit...

I must have deleted that email. Hopefully, it doesn't affect the service. Maybe it will solve my only peeve against them; why it takes an entire week to ship something two states away that normally only takes two days through the standard delivery services.

Jewelry components eh? Are you turning to the dark side, Doug? The best help I can offer is to encourage you to look to untraditional (non-jewelry) sources to fufill your ideas. I've found the most interesting/useful bits and baubles from electonic stores, rigging websites, and scientific sup...

Re: jooltool - has anyone tried it for polishing glass?

I purchased one of these units in June. Yes, it can be used for small, jewelry sized glass. I've used it to smooth the edges of my orbs and (hopefully) reduce the wear and tear on my wrists and arms. It does keep cooler with very little water (just a dab inbetween swipes). It is nice to be able to a...

Re: 2012 Pilchuck Glass Auction catalog

Thanks for asking, Leslie. The auction was indeed a magical evening. Lots and lots of wonderful glass enthusiasts; artists and collectors alike. Your donation looked gorgeous, of course. Not so sure if the electronic bidding was a success. I saw several patrons frantically texting on their phones on...

Whaaaa?? Skip that link on my opening post and go directly to http://www.pilchuck.com/events/auction_gala.aspx . I was able to access the catalog from there with no "warnings". BTW: I don't think it had anything to do with a torso or any other body part, just the company who creates the vi...

If you need absolute consistancy as well as high volume, get the blanks waterjet cut. What you save in time, angst, and energy more than covers the cost.
