glass fuser needs help
I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this part of the WGBB but I assume I'll be told if it's not. I've known Bruce Laughlin for a while, he's a good guy, a straight shooter, taught silk screening on glass, has been a glass fuser for over 25 years (he was a graphic designer before that). He's done...

Wok this way
Non ss will scale.
Some woks will eventually deform to an oval.
Sandblast, heat, spray kilnwash.
Or sandblast, spray or brush boron nitride.
Don't know about float.
Check archives for all the above and much much more.

12 volts
Bert- Is it really cheaper? Or is it merely necessary when shows limit your wattage? I usually pay for 2K watts= 35 to 40 50watt spots. Your transformer cost? And how heavy/big? Marty

Lia- this has come up before on this board and has been resolved thusly: Brian and Jenny own trademarks on processes, all of them, especially the cheatin ones. I own all rights on bowls and maybe platters. I forget who got the rights on heat and gravity, maybe Brock. The rest is up for grabs. Marty

teaching
I nominate Rob Levin, glassblower in NC near Penland, for best teacher. Inspiring, technically expert, gave challenging assignments, nurturing, and available. I'm a novice at teaching and am sort of winging it (apologies to those who have taken my class- but I did say I was a virgin!!!!!). I try not...

Re: agents
[quote="Leslie Ihde"]Well, that's two votes against agents, unless I count Kevin's as more than one given the strong feelings I detected. I get the sense that a person to handle the sales/business end turns you into more of a business than you want to be. Well, I hope some gallery owners c...

grinding
It's an expensive habit: yesterday's UPS delivery had one 45 grit x24" and one 140 grit x 24" diameter pad from HIS. I'm scared to open the invoice but it'll be close to US$1300. I'm turning out a lot of work and time=money so I can justify the expense. I don't have room for 3 SiCa loose g...

dumping
I gave it all- sheet, scrap, supplies- to the local high school art dept. in January. The up side is much more room in the studio and no compatibility confusion. The down side is that they will be calling me to come help set up their stained glass program, probably in August.

woks
Try heating it in your kiln (or oven) to 350F- more even heat.
Go to stainless woks (hard to find in larger sizes).

Having just taught a 3 day workshop I can tell you that it's a little disruptive to have students wander off. "Now I'm going to tell you how to whatever.... where's Amy?" It may also make it hard for the group to "bond" ("How come she's always off over there...?"). If y...
