Warm Glass calendar!!!
We've had overwhelming response to the idea of a Warm Glass calendar, and "Calendar Chip" has graciously volunteered to take care of the collating and printing. Stay tuned for an announcement about how to get your hands on a copy -- in the meantime imagine how wonderful it's going to be to...

I would prefire to 1400F and soak for just a few minutes. Leave the kiln open about an inch until the temperature gets above 1000F. It will stink and may smoke a little. You'll know the binder is out if the color turns back to white. 700F is definitely too low, and a couple of hours is too long. I ...

I believe that Ceraboard is a rigid product (right?), and will stand on edge. If so, then you shouldn't need to rig...

If you put a bowl in the kiln and fire to 1300 degrees, the edges will probably get a little shinier. More importantly, the bowl will almost certainly distort and lose its shape. Fire polishing generally takes place at 1300 to 1400 degrees, depending on the type of glass and the kiln. Slumping, wher...

[quote="JackHealy"]My point was to demonstrate how important it is to set up descriptions and keywords properly. The reason a $35 investment is a good one is that for folks who aren't as web savvy as you could benefit from keyword optimization and some of the other help found on bCentral. ...

I think the trick is to get Mullite shapes that are either cone shaped or wedge shaped so they fit well and are easy to remove. I would worry about IFB raining crud down. If anybody knows a source for these shapes, please let us know. Pottery supply stores and kiln manufacturers, as well as art sup...

Re: frits and graniglia
hello friends, what is difference between frits and "graniglia"? Frit is English, Graniglia is Italian. Both mean small pieces of glass. Most often, "graniglia" refers to small pieces of glass that have been fused or melted together but still leaving a rough or granular texture o...

I used to air brush my shelves, before going to paper, but got tired of the scraping and lugging. For what it's worth, Ed Hoy markets a new kiln wash that comes off with a damp cloth. The wash doesn't perform quite as well as Bullseye in terms of avoiding bubbles, but it does work pretty well and l...
