tabletop belt sander? + clear scrap usage

I'm going for 2 for 1 answer time. First, anyone ever use or know of a good tabletop sander, and am I even foolish to consider one. I am looking to primarly smooth the edges on pieces and take off excess material. I do a lot of tableware and starting on tabletop inserts. who is the best suppli...

I had a piece pit after using the wok a few times and a piece of scale actually came off(thankfully it kind of looks like martha's vineyard, so I am keeping it  ) Generally how many times can you fire in one before you have to kiln wash it( and no, i haven...

Unique paints

OK call me cheap, but I just bought some Unique paints from Rainbow Art and they came without temp directions and it is not on their color sheet either. Anyone have experience with them? I fired red up to 1450(like paradise) and lost most of it, and the rest blackened. Another question if you don't ...

haze as well slumping large shallow pieces

After my beginner early bubbles, i have returned to bigger and bolder. Now something new. On slumping both a 14" round(clear with confetti and stringers, also red w/ pattern bar) ) they both hazed on the underside in the slump except for the middle, where there is slight bubbling too. I can't find w...

110J and Fiberboard

I'd like to know who's using the 110J. Successes, problems, with or without kilnwash? How about fiberboard? I have a JenKen oval 9 and evil shelves and hate the limit of split shelf( My, isn't she picky?) I would surely welcome suggestions on proper use to make it last and work the best. I just boou...

I , (if i could afford it!) could easily be an equipment collector. More toys , more fun-mostly. Thank you for sharing and thank all the artists as well for great wor...

What an exciting piece. It kept unfolding as it opened up, good job.
Did you use a black sheet as the bottom layer?

Plate stands and displays

Hi all, I am looking for suggestions on types of stands and distributors for displaying my work at my upcoming shows. The platters and design pieces range from 6" to 14 1/2" I am leaning towards acrylic but concerned about the strength for the larger pieces. Any lighting suggestions as well would be...

how much rigidizer- best way to dry

:? I'm confused. Cut out some slumping forms and took out my rigidizer for my first attempt. Instructions give every choice for application so I chose to paint it on the fiber shapes I had cut out. Not sure how much to use, didn't saturate but coated multiple times. What is the proper way to dry it?...

I have an Jen Ken Oval 9 and definitely go for the deeper one. I love the window because i love to peek and I am not brave ( or dumb)enough to lift that lid when firing. The lid is heavy and I have had trouble with a shelf, but it could be me too! good luck Jeri, still trying to figure it all out

Dee,
Is the black by chance around the dichroic? That happens when I use the black swizzle sticks, but I know that and use it.

Thank you for the advice. Still getting schedules together.
there are holes in mold and I added a few more( can air come up as well, I guess so) The mold center does not touch kiln shelf but all sides are flush. I will try to notch some of the sides

Thanks again

problems w/ 14" sq mold

:( I've progressed from fusing bubbles to slumping bubbles. I have been having center bubbles in BE 14 1/2 square mold. White was fine, black was worst. 300dph to 1100.afap1350, hld 15 to 20. Should I slow between 1100 amd 1300?. Additional refire didn't help, retry on black a disaster. Would raisin...
