I'm ready for a new 10" tile saw blade. I have checked the archives but couldn't find reports on MK lapidary blades. Anybody using this grade of blade or know anything about it. Main use would be pattern bar cutting. Daily.
Thank you,
Jack

Stainless does not flake. If you are getting or you have seen flaking the steel you are working with is not stainless. Phil I haven't tried any yet. I am about to buy some for molds, etc. Was just wondering if one series, say 400, is better than another, 300 series. Or if one is as good as another....

Bert, I leave my floor bricks exposed where they're not covered by the fiber shelf or smaller kiln shelves. I'm running very close to 900 watts per cf and the kiln responds very fast. (40 to 1650 in 50 minutes empty) Is the blanketing on the floor strictly for energy savings or there other advantage...

You can get info in Glassnotes and A Glassblowers Companion. http://www.glassnotes.com/ http://www.joppaglass.com/ The link below shows a kiln I built. 3x5x1 inside dimensions for a volume of 15 cubic feet. It draws 56 amps. I have it on a 70 amp circuit. You don't say whether you mean a 40 amp brea...

Paul, The kiln usually asks if I'd like to go out for some fresh air. These days it's the other way around, my wife calling out to the studio. In my case I could monitor from the house instead of being in the garage. But someday... Unfortunatly you will need a controller for each kiln. If ...

Paul, The purpose of the PC is to store numorous firings, record firings, and have the convenience of setting temps with a mouse and keyboard. The CAL will do the controlling. The PC will tell it which firing to do and give you a time/temp graph for later troubleshooting. You can also chain kilns to...

Marty, Nice post, thank you. The controller I am building now will be around a Cal9500P process controller with redundant overtemp protection provided by a CAL9900 temp controller. In the power circuit is a Furnas 75Amp definite purpose contactor. This contactor can be activated by the 9500P alarm a...

Not sure about the design of the Skutt Pinto but in most cases wrapping insulation around your kiln will cause the outside surfaces to get much hotter than they are designed for. My older kiln has a painted outside surface and I left a piece of blanket on the lid once and the paint on the lid began ...

Ron, I test fired the kiln once and it has plenty of power. Still plenty of testing to do regarding temp variations throught the box. I decided to move everything into our below grade one car garage which is all concrete except the door leading into the basement. I'll put a fire door there. I should...
