Re: Kickstarter molds

My paw print molds came this week. In two different mold mediums. I'm excited to try them but I'm knee deep in getting my magless done for the exchange, so the molds will have to wait just a bit longer. Go Dawgs! (I got them to make coaster and items for the UW Huskies.

Re: Schott 90 Rods

So you are working!? I miss you. Glad to hear you're doing some glass. Would love to spend some time yakking... my insomnia keeps me up; then I sleep late. I'll give you a call tomorrow, or you can call me. :D

Re: drilling holes in glass

In the Puget Sound area there is a company called ConCut that can supply drill bits and saw blades. We did a tour of their facility about 7 years ago. It was very interesting and they are great to work with.

Re: Gloves for Cyclone 3824

Why not cut the too large gloves off leaving a bit at the wrist, then get a good pair of gloves that fit and using a good adhesive glue them to the remnants of the original gloves? I made my reclaiming box 40 years ago out of left over plywood. It has given me good service. I'd do it differently now...

I'm still waiting for mine, but excited at the possibility that it will be here soon, since you two have yours. A nice gift for spring.

Re: Screen Mesh for Printing

William, Thank you for the good info. It is helpful to me to hear how others do this. (I almost bought a used halide, but didn't know where I could put it. It was so large, but it would have been great.) I am considering having my negatives produced by a graphic service that can produce the nice bla...

Screen Mesh for Printing

I did a search of the archives and found a lot of material on grit screen sizes and sanding material, but did not see anything regarding favored screen mesh for screen printing. I had a screen made 156 mesh. I was hoping to read more about the art work (size of halftone dots; shape of dots and lines...

Re: What you cannot live without...

It's not that I can't live "without it", but I "wish I had it"… surveillance or security for my studio. It has been broken into twice in the few years since I've built it. I get angry just thinking of the $#%&#$ thieves who took my tools, gold, glass, etc. It is now much more...

Re: Adding cremains to already fused piece?

Our 34 year old daughter died in August from the return of a brain tumor...this time she had 5. I looked at the mortuary at all the keepsakes they now do. It occurred to me that I may make a built up piece that would be 3/4" around and maybe 2.5" long. I'd make it in a transparent glass an...

Re: Removing glass plug from diamond drill bit

I'm late to this thread, but have drilled a lot of holes lately and clean it after each use. I have strong thin wire I slip in and pull downward and the plug comes right out. I have also used small nails and the occasional awl tip, as it only needs to touch the glass to move it. I have a grove on ea...

Re: Pen nib for drawing with stainers?

Jen, I did get it. I was derailed as I mentioned. But will find some nibs for you in various shapes/sizes/stiffness/etc. Thank you for sharing. I'm not quite ready for creating my drawing enamel, but will reread this when ready. I'll see what I can dig up. Do you happen to have any info on the broke...

Tried to post a photo-jpg not allowed

I read here about file size, but no one posted this issue that I could find... I got the warning that .jpg was not allowed. I was taken back and researched it, but decided to write. Enclosed is a screen shot.

Re: Pen nib for drawing with stainers?

As a calligrapher I have a number of nibs... boxes of them, horded for the day that I need them. It looks like a metal crow quill is what you got. They tend to be very small and very flexible. If you seek a larger nib, I might have one. Would you want flexible or stiff? I'd be happy to just send you...

Re: reparing a broken mold

That is more or less what I thought, but one doesn't know for sure until one asks. The molds are no longer made, but I can see if I can't remake them and make one for cooking and one for casting. I really relate to the flow of tools out of my kitchen. I look in my studio and I could cook in there ve...

Saving Techniques

Am I missing a "trick"? I would like to save for myself topics that interest me. I am wondering if there is some button, or "trick" that people use to save topics here for quick reference? The discussion on printing inks is one I'd like to save and notate so I can refer to it... ...

Re: reparing a broken mold

Is this product food safe? I ask because I have two cookie molds that have broken and I was thinking of using them to slump into, but didn't want the crack to show. Then was thinking I could clean them and bake in them... or is this flawed thinking? I wasn't sure if molds could do double duty with g...

Re: Hanging a fused glass panel

I've thought about this too. I am thinking of altering the brass clips that you can get for glass doors. Fit the brass onto the glass piece and then take it apart and to a friend who is a metal worker. Have him braze on a rod of the right length and a flat shee of brass with two holes drilled and co...

Re: Workbench top

Cynthia, I really want to visit your studio. You do so many interesting things. And your processes seem "common sense", easy, natural and spot on to get the job done. I love the notes on glass, photo idea. I'm good at noting things while working, not very good about notes after the work is...
