well, if you're down at the Wharf, eat lunch at Sabella's #3 -- i draw your attention to their fried LARGE oysters plate for $15. Too divine. Then walk up to Ghiradelli Square. there are one or two galleries up there that have a lot of glass for sale, featuring among other things rather derivative c...

i wish i had the answer for you. i've got a similar situation: i have been asked to put gold wires on my jewelry for a museum, and also for one store. ordinarily i use sterling. for my dangle earrings, i have a nichrome wire coming out of the glass, which gets formed into a loop, and then highly pol...

Tony Serviente - more than 22 cents per KwH? i thought we won the prize for expensive juice. and it's 25 cents on Kauai. but in any case, i've been surprised at how little it really does cost for me to run the kilns.

i meant to say i would try it on large work.

i dont use BE on jewelry.
i dont like the feel of the pieces fired on it.
i like 50/50 kaolin & alumina hyd. for jewelry. i think it produces a buttery finish, pleasing to the touch.

Brock -- i didnt know about pre-firing the kw. that's interesting. TY 4 the new info. i just thought the shift from pink to white was to let you know the shelf had been used, but that didnt seem important to me since the glass leaves some shadows on the kilnwash, and the pink/no pink thing seemed su...

i object to "glass art." it's kind of like "metal car." "glass art" sounds like there's some question as to whether it's art or not.

i like titles, and after that, the materials/media and method should be mentioned.

if it's not going to be a regular thing, ask a tile shop to cut them for you. that's what i do. i can't have any messy power tools because i live in a condo. thank heavens i'm moving to a house in January, so i can do things that are impossible in my present situation. anyway, i've been going over t...

it may be the landlord of the property where the show is taking place who wants the certificate of insurance. if it's a small show in a small town, this may be an obstacle that vendors cannot overcome. the show's sponsors might have to change the location. $330 in california sounds about right ... $...

charlie, Aluminum oxide sells for $63.50 per 50# bag in Honolulu. i was more interested in the SiC because the aluminum oxide was breaking down very fast. you know, i'm in a remote spot on earth, and there isn't a lot of industry around here. makes things more pricey. always appreciate your pearls o...

thanks lionel! dont want to buy $400 worth at the moment because i'm moving in a couple of months. after that move, i'll have a big studio as well as other storage space, and can spring for more grit. i'm going after a beach glass matte finish. so, maybe the acid part wont be necessary anymore. than...
