Re: White - gray - pate de verre

Osnat,
Maybe the use of Less cmc can help.
cmc sometimes is the reason for a look of kind grey/not clean colour.

Re: Chili hot pepper

I don’t know if there is another glass artist that succeeded to create chili hot pepper by using pate de verre technique. Maybe chili hot pepper were created by flame working but doing it with pate de verre is really unique. I was there and saw your struggle and the troubles you faced making it, and...

Re: pate de verre

Thank you Valerie . I love the fragile look of thin pate de verre(about 2mm). With the holes it seems like it is fragile but it is really strong inspite of the holes . I love the "wild" natural look of the piece like in this piece: http://glassquarterly.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/saare_wi...

Re: pate de verre

there are 2 things I would like to learn about pate de verre: 1.in the picture of the 2 faces there are holes between the frits. Is it ok? Or is it a fault? Looking to the piece through the light is nice to see the holes but is it ok? 2. in the blue picture I put more percent of powder so there is a...

Re: Blew a fuse?

Hi Haley
sorry to hear about your kiln..
my colleague here had similar problem with her kiln.
she also made experiments reaching 1700 f .
the kiln manufacturer told her that she pushed the limits of the kiln and because of it it made the relay more vulnerable.

Re: More about melts

Have you seen this site? It has several pot melts with before and after photos so you can get some idea of what they put in the pot. http://www.glassblower.info/pot-melt-pot-drop/warm-glass-hot-glass-unique-glass.html I've only done a few melts thus far. I've mixed transparents and opaques with goo...

Re: It cracked AGAIN!

maybe the high temp (1700) was the reason for the break in this earlier work too ?and not because it was stuck to the firebrick ?? http://www.warmglass.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=39575 i agree with you less!! wonderful results can be achieved by reaching only 1500 temp. High temp can effect t...
