$20 monthly fee

I called Discover about the $20 fee and they are not the company charging it - NPC is the Visa and M/C processing company and they have added the $20 monthly minimum fee starting March 1st. Grrrrrr I hate paying fees for merely being a customer! Will now shop around for better deal.

I have been using Discover and have been happy with them until now. Just received a letter from them in the last two weeks that due to increased costs they were going to start charging a monthly minimum discount of $20.00 and they were also increasing other fees. As I limit my shows to about six a ...

Revised 3/2/2004: There is now a $20 monthly minimum fee for Visa/MC services so now I'm officially not so happy with this service. I use Discover and have been happy with the service. The service I use is for low volume sales and I just use the nuckle buster. No sign up fee, no monthly minimum or f...

Thx for the info, I found the dragons on page 207 of the catalogue. Kathie, Kathie, RE: your tile mould question....You might be able to make some tile moulds with raku clay or some other low fire clay. I haven't made any myself yet but I do have some clay so when I try I will let you know how it go...

Yes, inquiring minds want to know what are dragon molds?

I tried to find them on the C&R Loo website but only found the 40% off info. What is the original price?

Gayle,

You can do either. It depends what look you want and since you are new to this you may as well do up some small samples - do some of each using different size frit, different colours, full fuse, tack fuse, etc.

Lauren, Thanks for posting this info. I think it's a great idea and a real win-win situation for you and the students. Marketing is probably one of the areas that artists tend to need the most assistance with. I'm finding that even starting a small jewelry business has so many aspects that I hadn't ...

Jean, You just need to take it a little higher with the temp but you don't say what type of kiln so I don't know how high - maybe up to 1350? You can always take a quick look to see what's going on in the kiln to make sure you achieve the effect you want. You can search the archives for info on fire...

Barbara,

I am not clear on this statement "Also, materials and labor on a finished piece are taxable on the total bill." Wouldn't your sales price include labor and materials?

I think the key isn't so much size as "perceived" value. This can be used to your advantage. Making it larger is one way. Customers do usually equate size with value. Adding embellishments is another way to improve profits. Often you can add some small thing that doesn't take much time bu...

I agree that getting a customer to touch the work helps to sell it - gives them more of a connection to it, especially when there is so much texture as in your work. I know I always have to look with my hands - I have to feel the vibes, the energy.

Jackie sorry about the impending dental visit but thank you for Bill's website link. His work is fascinating and beautiful to look at and if I were to see it in person I would just have to touch it. I enjoyed reading his artist statement as well, very thoughtful.
