Re: Cookies -- myth vs. fact

If you really want to protect privacy, make sure you're shredding all the credit card applications that come in the mail :) That's where much of the identity theft starts. - Paul Or you could send the applications back in the lovely postage paid envelope - without filling out any info. I used to pu...

Peter, Very beautiful work - magnolia and lilium are my faves - I would like to see them up close. I bet they look great in front of a window with the slight changes in lighting throughout the day the colors would be constantly changing. I like simple, easy navigating web sites so yours suits me fin...

Re: Tile Saw or Manual Cutting?

By "lapidary saw", do you mean something different than a tile saw? Perhaps a diamond blade? I checked some websites selling lapidary tools; the choices seem to be either trim saws or slab saws. I did see a 4" trim saw (called the Tiny Trim!) for $250 that apparently minimizes kerf (...

Amy, So I'm not alone in wanting to touch Shattered, it absolutely begs to be touched! I really can't see without touching sometimes. About the boxes not being functional, that is very interesting to me because I was looking at all the wonderful images and thinking to myself "I wish there was a...

Amy, Great website! I had seen your website before and I am a fan of your work. I like the subtle improvements on the website - the background effects and the more streamlined gallery - and I love your new floating boxes series, the aluminum bases are just right. I also want to touch all that fabulo...

Louise, You can get a bunch of info in the archives - click on Search or Old Archive (this is the old BB) and enter your search topic - lots of good threads on these topics. I recall reading a good thread in the old archive comparing Taurus and Gryphon. I can't offer you much advice as I am just get...

Bev,

I thought that 80 square inches of 3mm = about a pound, but I could be mistaken of course.

Now if the 12" x 12" is in fact 1.6 lbs then 80/144 = .56 and 1.6 x .56 = .89 so the 8" x 10" would be about .89 lbs.

Judy and Rodney thx for the info. I will probably give epoxy another try. I think when I use up my current supply of bails I would like to try and get off the adhesives altogether and use other means of attachment - wire wrapping, drilling holes, etc. I envision less hassle and a more distinct look ...

Dolores, What brand of 5 minute epoxy are you using? I have tried a 5 minute epoxy to glue sterling bails onto glass pendants and I could easily pull the bails off the pendants (20 or so) after the prescribed 16-hour waiting time. I am wondering if it was the brand I used or more likely an example o...

I have used E-6000 - scuff the glass and finding, clean with rubbing alcohol, let dry, apply good amount of E-6000 to each and let sit for a couple minutes then attach, and don't touch for at least 24 hours. Other people don't like E-6000 and use epoxy but I'm not sure which type. There's some good ...

I'm too new at this to give you a firing schedule but if you are using BE you could check here for the annealiing chart on thicker pieces.

Also I guess you could search the archives, there may be something useful for you there.
