I have a kiln in my home... and I have seen houses catch fire where the wood has dried out over time. so I just wanted to give some extra insulation between the kiln and the wall.. I was thinking about maybe the fiber board (which I got at a great price) to add the extra insulation... The cement bo...

Thanks Barbara
The area isn´t very small, but the glass is clear, and I find UV glue easier to use .

from the series very, very basic, chapter 2

I am trying to do a panel, and I want to glue some pieces of mirror behind a glass layer.
I tried silicon and UV glue, but both appear from the glass side. It seems that it´s a wet spot.
There is any way to do this?
Thanks

I have to confess I can´t discover exactly what is "enamel". It is like paints? I read that Ferro Sunshine enamels are compatible with float, but couldn´t find any site that sells it on line. Is it similar to powder glass? I´ve beeig using porcelain paints on my pieces, but I´d love to...

I thought you´d like to know that I´ve done some tiles using the 1370 F soak 1 hour, and it was great. The tiles have got the texture I wanted, and there was no shinkage :D
Thanks to everybody for your help

Luiza sent me some pictures of her sinks. She thinks that she needs a class in sink making, but I think that she could be teaching it. Her sinks are lovely and she has made enough to begin to understand which designs work better than others. Go girl!!! Bert You have made my day :D . Not just becaus...

Luiza It sounds to me like you have a few alternatives. You can make the piece 1-2" larger on all sides and cut it down with a glass cutter. You can try 6 mm glass or 10mm. Or maybe the lower temp will have a different effect. It is interesting to me that you have the shrinkage problem. I gues...

Luiza I have done plenty of work around 1470 for 10 minutes. I now like 1365 for 1 hour. As long as devit is not an issue, this schedule yields a nicer surface on the bottom. I guess that the size change will be different for various thicknesses. I find that the size doesn't change much for me. Som...

It´s a wooden door, six lines with three columns of glass.
I have a sander, but not a wet one, and no, I don´t have a tile saw. It was a long discussion, the tile saws here are 11000rpm...
I was thinking that I could glue the two tiles with UV glue...Good idea?

It´s not a tile. I´m doing 18 pieces of glass to decorate a bathroom door, and the idea is to have diferent textures. So I decided to texturize one layer, and I´ll put it together with another blasted or "sponge painted", so that it has a good appearance from both sides, and will not be...

Re: Tempered glass question

I'll be teaching this process, along with sink making, in a 6 day class after the WGWE at Millennium Arts Center in DC. Bert, you are not beeig fair with me. SINK CLASSES. I´d give my kingdom to have a chance to go to your sink classes, but the truth is no one is interested in my kingdom  Luiza
