I've got a few of the Silberschnitt 6-wheel circle cutters but this thread has convinced me to upgrade to the ball-bearing version.

If your kiln is level, they shouldn't slide around. I don't ramp super fast so everything is flowing slowly. I use frit dots for eyeballs and tiny details and don't have trouble with them sliding around without glue.

I'd ask Tim Yardic; perhaps he'll share how he did it.

I only have very limited experience with fine silver encased between two sheets of glass. It may be an easier solution to let your strings run off the edges and then grind them off after firing, or use a tile saw to trim up the fired piece.

I use the vermiculite board that Bullseye sells with the hole pre-cut. I've also got a Caldera and have used this set up several times. One of my boards cracked down the middle but is still serviceable. It's an inch thick; perhaps yours is too thin?

I've been using the same Toyo pistol grip for about 10 years. Only bought a new one when I dropped the old one on the concrete floor.

The book also has firing schedules for various frit applications as well as a thick slab BE firing schedule chart that I've not seen elsewhere. I use Bullseye's thin glass as design elements all the time. Get some powders and make yourself a bunch of patterned thin glass to cut up and use as your own custom accessory glass. Just keep the pieces about 1/2" away from edges so you don't get bulging edges.
