Re: Hmmm ... can this technique be ported to glass?
You could mirror it with a bronze mirror kit from angel gilding.
http://angelgilding.com/mirror-kits.html
You mask the piece your working on, cut the design and pour the mirroring solution.

Is your mould raised up off of your kiln shelf, if not that could be the problem.

So for this batch, I just left the etched signature without color. But I appreciate knowing...

Good job, that was well worth $300.00 and yes it does make a statement, love the color. I have work to do to mine, was it hard to take it all apart.

I sandblast first then kiln wash, you have to scuff it up.

Re: Kiln Questions
I have two Olympic kilns, the first I bought is what you have the second is a much bigger clam shell, you will enjoy this kiln but be prepared to go bigger soon. :D I have been using it for 6 years, mostly top elements. My element recently starting sagging so I now mostly used the side elements and ...

Re: Somaca price
I bought one off of Craigslist for $250.00. It's an older machine in good shape except the box started to rot out in a couple of places. It's in my shed so I am waiting for spring to fiber glass the box.

Re: Paints
Would you not lose the beach glass look at those temps. I sandblast glass ( system 96 ) and depending to what temp I go to I can bring the glass back to clear. Puebo, I think that's the name makes a glass paint that you can cure at 350 degrees. I have never put sea glass in a kiln so I could be wron...

Re: Viewing windows in kilns
I look through mine all the time. Today I was trying to tack fuse some pieces that I needed to keep theire shape, after reaching the target temp I kept an eye on things and skipped the rest of the segment when I was satisfied. Brad is correct the area viewed in the kiln is not that great but if I ca...

The pocket purifier works great for me but you have to hold it at about a 45 degree angle.
