Re: CBS dichro transparency
Hi, A few weeks ago I made a pendant by capping a piece of rippled dichro with a piece of dichro on clear (dichro up) and then a piece of regular clear. I like the look and have been trying to replicate it and haven't had any success. I thought the piece I used for the cap was candy apple red, but ...

Re: Chipping off back side glass using tile saw
Hi everyone. I have just cut out with my tile saw a two layer thin glass dichro glass into small pieces to make jewelry out of the small pieces. My problem is that I am noticing some chipping off the edge back side of the glass after cutting it with the tile saw. I have tried griding the chipped of...

Re: need mini folded earring cards to hang on display rack
Does anyone know where I can find mini folded cards to display my small earrings that hang over a rack. I don't care for the style of plastic adhesive attachments or punch holes. I thought maybe of blank bookmarks or possible folding business cards, but it's not quite what I'd like. I'd appreciate ...

Re: fused glass jewelry questions

Re: Looking for suggestions for booth displays
I am looking for suggestions for booth displays. My work consists of a variety of pieces - some 2 dimensional hanging pieces, some bowls and other pedestal pieces, along with some pendants, pins, and earrings. I need a display that can be transported in a single large SUV (I've got a roof rack too)...

Hey Dee: I think that was worth far more that .02 cents (US). So you put your used kiln shelf in the sink and then just wash it off??? I like that... I have a sink in my studio but have been doing what Brock said (the razor thingey) and have been concerned about scraping and just don't like the way...

Hey Brock: One of the things I have whined about since I started fusing, is that I hate cleaning off the kiln shelves. I'm curious - what is your process for removing the kiln wash and then reapplying. Do you sand it off, scrape it off, wet it before you scrape it, do you apply with a spray, how ma...

Re: Scummy glass with PMC
I've been firing dichroic/fused glass along with PMC and have been getting a brown scummy discoloration in the glass - this seems to happen in 2 ways: 1) when firing glass in direct contact with the pmc the discoloration is where the glass & pmc meet 2) when firing glass in the same firing but ...

You have inspired me to do yet another test Brock. We have single digits in the forecast for the next few mornings, and I am going to put a couple of sheets outside while their identical twins bask in the comfort of my studio, then do identical cuts and see what happens. Stuff I worked with years a...

Re: setting up warm glass studio
I'm planning to set up my own warm glass studio from scratch in the basement of my house, from the wiring to work surfaces to glass stock to kiln. I can find loads of info on equipment, but NONE on layout, safety, etc., for instance: Is it reasonable to expect to work in the same room as the kiln? ...

Re: Comments on picture frame
New to fusing, am making picture frames for my 3 sons graduation pictures. This is the first one and it came out ok except for hazy look on 2/3rds of clear cap glass. Probably due to cleaning. But am learing so hope i won't make same mistake again. http://community.webshots.com/s/image9/9/15/61/1120...

If it's a cleaner cut you're looking for (less chunk, waste, and grit), try getting a lapidary blade. I too got a cheap-o tile saw from Harbor Freight and was dismayed to have my pattern/frit bars all chewed up on my first use. The original blade even had the gall to rust after sitting there just a...
