My favorite kiln is the one I built. But I had the pleasure of using a Scutt Clamshell for a few weeks and I love it. Both kiln and controller were perfect.

The plotter Not sure what it is and it's the only one I've seen while it is working. $10,000 CAN would be about $7200 US. He has another one that he paid a couple thousand for. I know it's about 40" wide and spits out stencil about as fast as you can see. Also scribes metal sheet though I'm not...

Nikki, For $100 I would grab it and ask questions later. I think I feel a toothache coming on, time to talk to my dentist. It looks like what I see at the high end jewelry supply shop here in Salt lake. I was thinking something like this. A flameworkers/labglass blowers tool. http://www.littonengr.c...

A good machinist could make the adapter and I see no reason it wouldn't work IF the smaller spindle can handle the load you intend to place on it. Does it look like this? http://www.wellsdental.com/Techbull/Catalog/wellscat/Pages%20from%20WellsCat.11-14.pdf This isn't what I think of when I hear &qu...

We just built a 120V crucible furnace. It has three 12 Amp elements that each have their own plug. Crucible is 8" dia by 12" high. All three together melted the first charge overnight. Once molten one element will keep it at blowing temp. Don't know what temp you need for ladeling. Want pi...

there used to be a jewelry maker in hawaii who put their designs on pendants and earrings. it was done with a computer program and an XY plotter which cut the stencils. the little stencils were adhesive-backed. she put them on her glass, sandblasted the dichro off, and fire polished. i know another...

You were dreaming sort of. Another poster described a method of drawing a design in sharpie or whatever on the dichro, recoating the drawing and then puting the etching cream on. The dichro survives under the sharpie. I tried it and it works great. To have a black design I use my dremel to grind awa...

I'll take a shot. The first ramp must be upward as you say. I don't know if the small one you put in is enough. I would unplug and wait a few seconds. Turn back on and let temp drop to the mid 900 range and then start a program that will first ramp to the 1100 (not AFAP, what's the hurry?) and then ...

Kirkland? Seems like I was just there. Is that right next to Redmond? Took a class at NW Artglass. Nice place, but I prefer rain once in a while.

I would say the temp is somewhere under 800F but not sure where is best. I think shattering would be the biggest problem.

In any event I just added more water to the sump until the pump had enough pressure to hit the blade. Just curious what your solution was. Seems the tubes are too short.
