Re: Uroboros Residency

I thought it might be interesting for some to see the process in creating the color bars since we lost a bunch of older posts on how to create. Hope it might help a few artists to create with movement and fun.
First choose colors and glass for your art piece. Have an end game in your mind while you are choosing your colors. You can use frit and slices and even older cast glass pieces. I usually begin with strips and then fill with frit and powders and also strips layed sideways to give the color bar lots of angles. I like to try to create a hole as well so that the glass is drawn up with the air rising in the bubble.

I love to make large cast glass bars so that I get lots of movement as the glass melts and moves downward. I have many sizes of Zircar Containment molds also , so that the pieces can be deep or shallow depending on the final slices I want to use.

This color bar was created especially with sky in mind. Stormy skies or Tranquil . Lots of places for bubbles to form and to move the glass around

Re: Uroboros Residency

Hi Havi, have not talked to you for some time now. Have been away in the U.S.A. creating and enjoying Uroboros Glass Company so much. The last one is a corner of the middle Cast Piece . It is the 27 inch by 27 inch by 1 inch. I had alot of fun creating the color bars and then re-investing into the c...

Re: Uroboros Residency

Thanks so much Shawn, I wish I lived closer to Victoria , B.C. and we could go for a walk on the boardwalk as I miss the ocean so very much. I hear you are visiting there. Perhaps a few other artists on the island could send you a private PM and hook up with you. When I get some nice professional pi...

Uroboros Residency

phpoPpBT4AM.jpg I thought I would share what I was up to at my Uroboros Residency in Portland. It was truly wonderful and met some wonderful artists , and of course the owners and Kat and Bill and all the staff are totally super. Carol Carson and I finally met and we laughed so hard because we both...

Just a very light dusting of spray though so you don't change the texture of the piece. Les

Re: New Panels

Not at all Haydo!!! This has always been my major problem.I am the first to admit it. I live so far away from the city and to get a stand (or even new clips soldered onto the tall stand you see here) (which is not finished yet ) and I tried to say this in the beginning of the thread but sorry I was ...

Re: New Panels

Well thanks to all who enjoy our beautiful surroundings as much as I do. In all parts of the world there is unique environmental inspiration. We cannot help but be influenced by the spectacular mountains, rivers and lakes, just as you are influenced by flowers and pieces you carve Peter. . Les

Dear Tom, there are sooo many great products out there . I am so glad that you are experimenting and loving the results. The nice thing about rubber is that it will last for many many years and is plyable so that undercuts are not a problem and it peels off like a glove. Would love to see some of yo...

Re: Bear Facts

Oh Ellen, isn't that funny. My family walks by doing this #-o as the piece gets larger and larger. I try to make things tiny, but well, if it is small it usually sits infront of something larger. I feel as if we are the luckiest people on earth to be able to create. I truly love the creation almost ...

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee40/twin_vision_glass/P1010649.jpg I hope this has helped . The last one is the rubber cut so that it comes off well. It is also important as you are painting on the rubber to make sure that you thicken where you are going to cut the rubber so the seem is not fli...

Re: Bear Facts

Hi Lynne, where to start with the questions. let's start with no wax bits. I scrape with my scrapers and scope it up, roll it up in my fingers and press it back onto the piece to make hair or change the nose or something. I use a wheller gun to weld bits and pieces onto or off of him as I go. It is ...
