I did end up working with a UPS shipper.. who carefully used a wooden support and a box within a box, with alot of either foam or peanuts, I don't recall right now. But the wooden structure he built, I believe, held it in tact safely..and the glass arrived ...

Re:the exhibit; since it is not a gallery, but a venue that is showing my work and helping me with visibility, yes, I should carry my own insurance. It is only $25 /mo. to get the rider. Re; shipping, I had a nightmare incident with UPS, and 35 sq. ft of art glass was broken. UPS packed it horribly ...

If I am following this correctly, sounds like the insurance was the right way to go in that instance, but you undervalued the piece.

My work will be on exhibit at a professional club (business, meetings, events,etc). They tell me that my work has to be covered by me, not them, while on display. phew! had 36 hrs. to create a complicated piece..feel like I just took a final exam, like both my daughters!

When is it safe to blast the back of a piece that has just finished cooling to room temp? Is it at risk to bast, i.e. in 2 hours ?

Good morning. I bought polarizing film from Bullseye.. and held it at right angles to see annealing results on 2' x 3' fused glass. All I see is dark and clear..not hazy, not colored .. Some. I think the bottom line might be: my thermocouple was the older, exposed tip kind. It was not registering temp correctly anymore. So, earlier fuses worked.
