Glenda...... a hands on exercise: Choose from your work one piece that you feel strongly about. Take this piece and develop a series of works from it. When you work in series, you take the strongest visual/emotional elements and work them out in differing combinations. Taking care to keep some threa...

"In my opinion, voice comes from within. It's more to do with who we are, rather than something we acheive. (Not to say that it can't change and evolve over time, however.)" Jackie......I completely agree with you on" the voice from within" part and that it can (and hopefully wi...

"How does one achieve "voice" (which seems to sound safe to a number of people on this board) without the involvement of research, intent, content, and means of expression?" Voice seems to me to be the expressed distillation of an individual's life experiences, inclusive on some...

"Letting go" of our visualization of perfection can be the hardest part in making art. When I was much younger, I felt like a failure if my finished pieces did not perfectly match my inner vision and I would discount and usually discard these "failure" pieces. It took me years to...

It's all valid, Amy......... You're absolutely right in saying that there is no right or wrong. We all work for different reasons. One of my friends works in a very abstracted manner and she refuses to discuss her work. With anyone (even gallery directors)! Her creative motivation is personal. Once ...

Thank you Catherine.......it's been a long while since we had these kinds of questions to mull over. "Why are you doing the work that you do?" "driven to commit art" . It's my four word "short" artist statement. Can't live without the process of artmaking, don't want to...

Randy, did you sign a contract to show your work in this Co-op? The usual with these types of contracts, is a 30 day notice to take your work out. If no contract was signed or a draft of gallery guidelines given to you, then you certainly have the right to remove your work at any time. How formal (w...

Re: Cock trip

Maybe the Hen Party can meet up with the Cock Trippers and everyone can enjoy a few rounds of _________

Stuff the fowl
or
Foul - you're too stuffed?

This, of course, refers to one of Minnesota Fats most favorite pool games!

Tony......it's amazing what people are creating "at home" in their personal studios. The technique of this piece is high level.

Can't wait to see the rest of the series??
