Hi Steve,
I had heard that you used the handpads, but didn't realize that you used them after sandblasting. Does it soften the blasted texture? Whenever I've tried to do that, I find I can't hit all of the low spots on the glass with the pad and end up with an uneven appearance.

Ann I'm not sure what will happen with Spray A at slumping temperatures since I've never used any oversprays or glazes. My understanding is that Spray A matures at fusing temperatures and will gloss ove the surface... sandblast and all. Back Magic on the other hand matures at slumping temps and shou...

I just visited Marty Daily of Centre de Verre in Allenstown, NH, and he stocks a lot of Bullseye's fusible glass as well as all of their molds, frits, kilnwash and other supplies. He also stocks kilns, shelves, controllers, torches and and bead supplies. He's about twenty minutes outside of Manchest...

I think that if you find the output spec on the halogen transformer, it will say something like XX Amps, 12 volts DC. So you are taking 12 volts DC from the battery, converting it to 115 volts AC with the inverter and then plugging in a halogen transformer which converts the 115 volts AC back to 12 ...

Why would you need an inverter? Most of the halogen lights are 12 volts DC to begin with, aren't they? Get rid of the inverter, get rid of the transformer and wire the lights straight to the battery and save yourself the energy that you're losing by converting the DC to AC then back to DC again.

The blade can be dressed, but you may also be using too much pressure and not taking enough time to make your cuts. Diamond blades degrade quickly when they are used aggressively. You should be applying very little force to push the glass through the blade. Let the blade do all the work. Also, make ...

Carla, There are no stupid questions, just stupid comments. With that said, the answer is: I don't know. Conventional wisdom says that a drop ring mold should be made of a material that has a lower COE than glass so that the glass isn't trapped inside the ring. BUT, depending on the shape and design...

I've been cutting circles from System 96, double thickness clear with a regular Silberschnitt circle cutter without a problem. For straight cuts, I use a regular Silberschnitt glass cutter. I do use a Toyo thick glass breaking tool on the straight cuts to run the score. On the circles, I follow Patt...

Your heat loss is through air flow through the fibre. Beat that and a 6 cubic foot kiln will run on 23 amps (30 amp) 220v breaker. Kevin Kevin: Is this a custom made kiln that you are talking about? Any limitations on high end temperature? What about ramp rate? How did you beat the airflow problem?...

That's correct Paul. The inexpensive Badger airbrushes use an external mix. Basically, there is a siphon tube that extends into the color bottle. At the top of the siphon tube is a nozzle-like projection that is pointing straight up. There is a threaded adjustment on this siphon nozzle that allows y...

no, it's not supposed to leak anywhere. Sounds like you might have a leaky o-ring. Return it to Testors for a free replacement. Yes, the wheel presets your fluid flow so it acts like a single action airbrush, but if you don't understand single action and double action, it will increase the fluid flo...

I'll have to see what effects I can get on the carved surfaces on our architectural sandblasted work. Such are the associations of creation. It's funny the way the mind works. Make sure one of the two holes on the side of the airbrush is plugged. You'll find the plug with extras in the kit. Will it spray water? If not, rotate the wheel on the back top side of the airbrush until it does. If it does spray water, then try a different tip. The turquoise tip works the best wit...
