I have totally revised the site with lots of images of work done this year. Please visit http:...

Re: selling suggestion

LOL. The first time someone asked me where my work was made, I mistakenly thought they were asking me where my studio was. So I said "San Jose". She then said, "Oh, this stuff is made in Mexico?" DUH! I finally got it and explained that I actually make it myself in San Jose, CA. ...

Re: Sharpening glass blade with sharpening stone

Ok ... it's time to sharpen my mk 215 gl blade on my tile saw. In the archives Dee (?) says to use a silicon carbide dressing stick and just slice a piece off when you need to sharpen it. I have a silicon carbide sharpening stone that I bought to do the job. Is it the same thing? Or is the dressing...

Re: Etching materials

I'm doing a piece that is combining several different techniques, and I wanted to know what product produces the most significant etching result. The one I've tried barely varies the surface even after sitting on the glass for almost 20/30 minutes? Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks Rob rob, if you ...

Re: Saw blade

I'm ready for a new 10" tile saw blade. I have checked the archives but couldn't find reports on MK lapidary blades. Anybody using this grade of blade or know anything about it. Main use would be pattern bar cutting. Daily. Thank you, Jack jack, have a 7" blade mk saw and use their 215gl ...

Re: Hotline Primo Primer test review

I received a sample of Hotline Primo Primer kiln wash to test. I used it on shelves for my Bullseye dichro project. I give it high marks. It is removable with a paper towel, which is a trait I value, given that my preferred process is to remove and apply fresh kiln wash each time I fuse fire. I cou...

Re: Pattern bars & dip n etch

Hello everyone: I made my first pattern bar today - I've cut a few slices and was wondering if I could use dip n etch to give them a more matte finish and then incorporate into my piece and fire to full fuse? I've only used the dip n etch on my finished beads and have no idea how it will react to b...

Re: dichro strategy

The irid is against the shelf. I'm capping with clear frit. On my test, a couple of pieces had the jagged dichro float to the top. Most of them were clear capped and good. We liked the ripply surface of the frit, but this time I'm going a bit hotter so it smooths out a little more. ok, wasn't sure i...

Re: dichro strategy

Ok dichro doobies I'm about to cook a batch of tiles. I picked an incredibly labor intensive design, but they are now almost prepped. I made dams using 1/4" ES board that I got scraps of. I cut out the shapes leaving a border intact. The tiles are 1' x 8" and 2" x 2". I cut stri...
