I stay away from the silicon carbide. Two reasons. First is that in my opinion the use of the silicon carbide has the potential for more devit when firing glass. Lots of people say that that isn't true and you can always start a discussion about this that ends up with shouting matches. Aluminum oxid...

It's funny you should mention this as I have been working on a dynamic PDF form that one can fill out on their computer with the notes one keeps for vairous projects (description of the project, materials list, the firing profie information for the various stages of the project, etc.). The Jen Ken AFG 27 is nice as well as the AF3P. I have a GF8 from Olympic that is my favorite for big loads.

Shouldn't be a problem. Just go really slow on the heat up. Then use your regular schedule for finishing the firing.

Just wondering out loud, what would happen if the bubble were to be vented and then the piece reslumped? Would the tumor collapse on itself and thus the bubble eliminated?
