Re: Alternate Frit Maker - any downsides?

I use an older Oasis machine, the ones used for making frozen drinks. First I heat the glass with my torch or in the kiln, drop it in water, let it dry and then blend. I found a link the other day on a unit you can build with a garbage disposal. Boyce Lundstrum who just recently passed away has thi...

Pressure sensitive labels can be removed by Pouring a small amount of natural oil-based adhesive remover, such as one containing orange oil, rub it with a cloth and the adhisive will ball up. The bottles all have enamel on them and she has asked me to make a couple bowls out of them. I have cut the bottles into rings and would like to know if anyone has a temperat...

Re: float glass frit

I get orders from all over the world , I just shipped 20 pounds of scrap fusing glass to Russia. I always wondered why people in Australia, Russia, Israel ect didn't mind spending 65.00 for a large flat rate box that ships locally for 15.95. I used to balk at shipping overseas until I found out how ...

Re: Stainless Steel Mold

I did a mess of stainless steel bowls about 9 months ago all at one time- a few I have not used and they have developed brown specks IN the kiln wash. Are they still Ok or should I wash and redo them? Thanks much!

Re: Testing Protocol For Stained Glass

I, like many did stained glass for a few years and actually bought a kiln to embellish my stained glass with painted elements- that was three kilns ago and a small fortune in tools, machines and knowledge. This place, these people, you won't find a more helpful, knowledgeable, thoughtful , lot. Welc...

Just because they haven't cracked yet, doesn't mean you're safe- I've heard of pieces cracking long after they were made. Good luck, :)

Crazy Question, Dop Wax

My dutch relatives are fine jewelers in holland and use DOP wax now and then with non precious gems. I'm working on large "cabs" from pattern bars and wondered if anyone has tried using DOP WAX for beveling fused glass though the different grades of disks. I want to bevel the glass on the ...

Re: Transparent enamels

I will be Airbrushing the enamels - I bought 50 old Vials of Reusche enamels and I shocked when I looked them up. many are the gold bearing and were very pricey .
I thought about sifting the enamels over the stencils - I may try both

Thanks Much!

Hello, I need to make 39 candle shelters for a wedding. They will be 8x5 and then slumped into a "c" shape. I've painstakingly cut all the stencils and would like to best place to buy transparent enamels. Would rousche glass stainers be good? I'm also trying to be money conscious as these ...
