Oops: I meant to address that to Sarah. A workshop you might want to look into is one by Roger Thomas. He has you make dozens of technique sample tiles that for many of us in the class became the basis for a glass reference library. You just have to remember to put lables on the back to remember how...

Judy: The following is an assignment that Beth and I gave ourselves a couple of weeks ago. In a more anal moment, I wrote it up like an experiment, referencing information from Judy Conway's article and notes from Bob's class. Hope it's useful! Charlie: I didn't go to GAS but Ted Sawyer gave a workshop at Vitrum where we used the the vermiculite mold material. Bullseye just came out with a tech sheet on it. I don't know who's going to market it, but it's inexpersive and you can buy it by the palate directly from the US distributor in Charl...

Steve and Tony: From past posts we know that Silicon carbide fractures into ever smaller but still sharp particles. I'd like to compare the physical structure of the abrasives microscopically but that probably won't tell us anything further about how glass becomes fractured. I tried to compare the v...

Bert: You may be happy to know it does come full circle. My daughter got her tongue ring at Columbia U her first year and kept it in for 4 years, until interviewing for a much wanted internship with NASA two weeks ago. Long hair got cut but not so short that it wouldn't still hide the stainless stee...

My daughter comes home from college every once in awhile and makes borosilicate ear plugs and comma-shaped ear loops. I guess the ear loop style or open rings could be made a bit smaller and used as naval ornaments. Could be the start of a whole new enterprise  the price mark-up and profit are...
