back in the dark ages, about six years ago, i was using elmer's. everything worked great for about a year or so. then it started leaving a residue. ruined a lot of work, too. mary kay at BE told me to lose the white glue, and i did. but i continued to look into why this happened, and what i found ou...

looks like i'm the dissenting voice on this one. as others have mentioned, the stand doesn't work for me for a few reasons: visually, i dont see it referencing the piece. your work is highly identifiable as Lisa Allen, and the stand is clearly not your invention. but the problems of how many legs it...

aloha KAG - i like the amber portion with the black (?) speckles and it's somewhat yin/yang shape, and also the mosaic bits inserted there. i like looking at that part more than the red/green quadrants or interior. may i suggest a different method of display? the stand's curlicue element attracts to...

i thought about your post for a few days, and decided to throw my two cents in on the dishware production aspect. this venue doesnt sound like a restaurant for the super wealthy. if it were, they'd buy expensive fused plates, break them in the dishwasher, and order some more. i've got a neighbor who...

molly, there is quite a bit in the archives about how to cast a channel in a pendant, so a cord can slide thru. people do it with fiber paper, or with a thin welding rod coated in kiln wash or bead release. see if you can find some of those previous posts ... it's been described in pretty good detai...

some posts in the past showed great set-ups for doing this with the lighting coming from behind white sheeting of some type ... so the light was diffused, and glare was dramatically reduced. check the archives for this ... it was this year. sorry i can't provide the link; maybe somebody else will ch...

i quit buying from them years ago -- they never had the colors i needed, and i'd get these partial shipments missing very important things because nobody checked to see if it was REALLY in stock. i went there about a year and a half ago to buy a kiln, and was kind of shocked at the place. it's not v...

Luiza, i agree with Geri that it might be a good idea to stop wearing your contacts for awhile. I only wear my contacts in the evening these days. When I'm working in the studio, which is every day, it's just easier to wear glasses. No more peeking into the kiln without goggles. You can get cataract...

i think it would be a good idea to go see an opthamalogist. you need to talk to an MD about this, not just an oculist. first of all, the oculist might be wrong, and second, if there is any damage, that should be evaluated by an MD who specializes in the eye. there could be various reasons for dry ey...

aloha stella - welcome aboard. you might tell us what kind of kilnwash it is, and the size of your shelf. cutting circles may take some practice. see a very good tutorial on how to do this at http://www.pattygray.com i followed her tutorial, and the Glass Cutting Gods allowed me to cut perfect circl...
