Re: Bubble block progress, not.
You are onto something here, the Haydo technique! I agree with you, stop everything else (for now) and dig into this. I love the colors too!

Re: Fiberfrax QF 180
Hi Bert, where do you buy your HD board? Can I purchase it cut to fit my kiln? Do you have to treat the HD board before the first use? THANK YOU!

Photo transfers
I want to do some photo transfers onto glass. I have never done this before, I see that Delphi sells some sheets (a package of 10) 8x11 inch. http://www.delphiglass.com/cart/cart_additem?item=191621 But I would like to do larger projects...is there a place that sells larger sheets of photo to glass ...

Re: Bullseye Thin Fire - Grrrr!
I recently had a problem with Bullseye thin fire paper leaving white scum on glass, where it had not before. I thought hard about what was happening and what had changed...the only thing I could think of was the change in weather; summer is over, the leaves are falling and it has started raining. We...

Sand blaster
I am finally getting a sand blaster. The problem is I am running out of room in my studio -not to mention I don't want to pollute the airspace in my studio. I have a completely covered -but open sided- dog run next to my studio. We get quite a bit of rain in the winter here in Northern California. M...

Re: Fish of a different color?
I have a question about the aluminum--did you keep it flat on the panel or did you bend it around the sides too? Nice look. Thanks! Kate They are flat, I popped two holes in the center of each aluminum plate, then I ran a knotted wire loop behind, the knots face in against the glass and they are re...

Re: Fish of a different color?
Thanks for the positive feedback! I feel encouraged to push these...I will look into some restaurants and a different gallery. Does anyone out there hire someone to do their marketing? I'm really bad at selling my work!

Fish of a different color?
The 2013 salmon run is dying down. I have been making the same old fused glass salmon pieces for years, to sell in my local gallery. Out of boredom I started thinking (again) ....Thinking of Andy Warhol's use of bright color and duplication of a theme (Marilyn Monroe, soup cans, etc.) So I made a se...

Re: Glass grinding with silicon carbide by hand
Thanks so much for the advice, I will not bother to sandblast the float glass! I am wondering if anyone has advice on the size of the grit (or grits) I should have on hand to use for grinding on float glass? My goal is to remove the irregularities from previous firings on fiber paper. I hope to prep...

Re: Glass grinding with silicon carbide by hand
I am setting up a work table for glass grinding using silicon carbide on float glass. I called my local glass shop and I can get a piece of 24" by 24", 3/8th inch thick float glass, beveled edge for pretty cheap. My question is; Is it necessary to sand blast the float glass before using it...

Re: making frit & powders?
Thanks everyone! I think I will buy my frit for now. Buying it will leave more time to create and one less unused tool gathering dust. I use 90 and I use 96 glass and I have noticed the larger grades of spectrum (frit) are completely different in shape than Bullseye Frits...the process to make these...

making frit & powders?
Has anyone tried this device? http://www.bluefiremolds.com/frit-maker/Glass-Eater.php There are times when I would like to have the option of making my own frit and powders, but I want a good quality product. I have heard that small particles of metal from the "crusher" type of frit makers...

Strange new thing
-Just playing with powers and textures. It is pretty big, the glass is 21"x21" and almost 3/4 thick. The stand is painted steel, I was trying to make it look like the glass was melting into a puddle. I named it "Its Alive!" It posted sideways!

I see larvae or cocoons. I like them all. The one on the far left looks thicker, is it? I like when glass gives the illusion of texture. You're on to something John!
