Tucson is one of our strongest shows. We've been doing it since 1991. . . yikes! We will be at the Best Bead Show at the Kino Center February 4-8 in Booth 7. By your question Gale, does this mean that you are going? Paul, which show is your friend doing? Be prepared to sell at wholesale with a mediu...

Having talked to people who sell beads and fused work on ebay many say their sales are way off this year. Personally I would not count ebay as a means of bringing in dollars. Possibly you could use it as a venue to direct people to your website, your show schedule or your name. I have seen my work s...

Mark, the reason your design is breaking up and floating is 'cause dichroic is a coating on the surface, the more tension and movement the surface has the more your pattern will move. Try slowing the heat down by about 75 degrees and soak longer. it took me quite a while to find that sweet spot wher...

I felt this was 'so pertinent' to both these threads she says smugly that I'm posting it twice, yikes . . . Many artisans refuse to do production work, some do nothing but, and others have found a comfortable compromise between the two. With few exceptions, the more production oriented the artisan, ...

Pam, Talk to Dee Janssen, who frequents this board. dee@ucjewelry.com I designed and maintain my own site front-end and Dee takes of the ColdFusion secure portion. We are both hosted by http://www.intent.net While I love maintaining my site they both are sorely out of date and it is time consuming t...

Kathie, First off the decade of the 50s is fabulous no yucks here . . . in fact next year I hit the next decade and am looking forward to it as well. It's taken us a long time to get to these milestones so enjoy! I've had my glass business since 1991 and never looked back. Exciting, scary and reward...

Cheryl, that "tiny tug" is the reason your work thermal shocked. clean your damn dams and re-kilnwash them. Sara No real sticking - altho there might have been a tiny tug when I moved one dam. Definitely no sticking to the shelf. And the other piece in there - slightly thinner - was fine. ...

Geri, I have noticed no reduction effects when I have used coated wood mandrels to make holes across pendants but then I have never fired as many at one time as you must for production. If paper ignites at 451 F and most paper is made from wood fibers I would think that any carbon from the wood use...

Forget about e-commerce, many business people think you put up a shopping cart and visitors start buying, it's not gonna happen, it's very tough - I'll write about it in Craftsreport some time early next year. Never mind the technical and administrative requirements as Paul mentioned above. Zino, I...

Leslie, some have a number of piece minimum instead of a dollar minimum, depends on what you're selling. Since much of my work is lower price point I have the dollar amount, if you're selling bowls or large items some might say a 3 piece minimum, find your comfort spot. You want to make sure a galle...

Leslie, Since your friend is a new rep I thought I'd toss this in. You need to have a minimum opening order, mine is quite low at $250.00. If a gallery or anyone wants to purchase one piece for themselves they pay RETAIL. Often I'll give a courtesy of 20% off, but never sell at wholesale for less th...

My opinion (trust me I have an opinion on everything) . . . the best thing anyone new to fusing can do is work without a controller for the first few years. I did this and learned so much about the behavior of glass. the biggest drawback I encountered was that without the controller it was most diff...
