For those of you that do use rods or wooded skewers my questions is what size chain can you get through those holes or are you using cord. I have been using fiber paper and recently got a little too narrow with it that my snake chain would not slip through. I just bought some wooded skewers but was ...

Display Jewelry at Shows

I got a chance to do a show at a nurses convention the 13th. I only get a 6 ft table so I am going to limit myself to mostly jewelry and some slumped vases. My old job for years kept me on the road so I never was able to go to shows. Shows I did years ago I had a lot of room and it was stained glass...

I use the Primo also for in the jewlery kiln and have had no problem with my results. The only thing I don't like it could possibly be a bad mix ratio when I mixed it up a gallon at a time. I pour it in small canning jar and it settles fast and if it sits it get extremely hard to mix back up. It goe...

Tony, no cleaning makes it nice. It is 5 individual panels. In the oak frame I have dadoes to slide the glass in. There is an inch space between each panel so I could drop gravel inbetween each panel. Thanks for looking.

My first photo post Foolarium

This is my first expirement with this. The tank measures 17" x 14" x 6". There are four different panels fused, seperated by a 1" gap. The front is clear float glass. This one was done using Spectrum. Some of the fish I believe are a little to large and the one that has no color ...

New Spectrum Thin Fusing Glas

Rumor time. I heard that Specturm has got several of their fusing colors now in thin and are suppose to make thin of all the fusing colors. Has anyone else heard about this? Also if anyone is interested its a different topic but if you use regular Spectrum Glass for slumping and you have local Hobby...

bubble

Have you ever check to see when the bubble started to form. I usually go from 1100 to 1280 at 60dph and then sit and soak for 25 min. I then only ramp at about 400 to final temp. I have found this has worked with all my pieces and I have not come up with no devit or and bubbles. This firing schedule...

Bails

If you check out either Delphi or Glass Crafters in Florida that are selling these bails that are both large and small size. They cost about $12 for 25 they are plated and not sterling silver. I purchase some just to check them out. They have a leaf back pattern that has a small dimple for the glue....

Breaking in Duraboard

I am looking on buying possible a pice of duraboard that will fit in the Evenheat Coffin kiln. The guy who owns the kiln has been having trouble with his board. Big bubbles all the time. I took a level to the board and to the the kiln. The kiln was on a 3/4 slope one way an 1/4" the other. I do...

Ird glass

Spectrum reg ird stained glass can be used for draping & slumping. You have to stay under 1200 or metal coating will burn off it will also have cracks in the metal coating as it is forming over the mold. It will still look ok but not be as nice as when you started with it. Fused ird glass will n...

Jewelry kilns Pendants & Devit

A friend of mine got a paragon front loading jewelry kiln 7" x 7" inside that you can do a full fuse in 15 min., so they say. He has been doing pendants BE glass and Dichroic he fires at 1000 dph to 1600. On his pendants he has been getting gray on the edges I guess its devit. He has done ...

slump bubble

I can't say if the bubble will fire out from just trying to reslump it, but you possible can refire it flat and start the slump all over. From my own experience slumping at 400 deg. is still too fast. Slower is almost always better allowing gravity to play a bigger role than a higher fire rate. I us...

kiln wash & Etching cream

I know a few months back there was a post about using etching creme to remove kiln wash. I have a panel that is tacked fused on top 17" x 14". It was the 4th of 5 panels and it picked up kiln wash. I scrubbed, not much luck. I put the etching creme on wash off fired it on thin fire back to...
