Dee,
Don't know. Call Wissmach to find out. I bought several sheets direct and that will be a lifetime supply.

Re: firing irid, face-down
I have some of the machine rolled URO irid that they misshipped several years ago. Never thought to try it. Will do so. The color of their irid is more uniform across the glass (does change, but more of a gradation) Wissmach is very random. Produces great results as long as you can preserve the colo...

Yep on thinfire.
Fire first to 1400 range....actually about 1425- in my small kiln. In the larger one I fire at 1375.

Re: firing irid, face-down
I have been experimenting with firing wissmach irid recently. I fire both face up and face down. I find that face down is more predictable, but both yield excellent results as long as you don't fire too high. these are some experimental pieces trying to use mica on irid. Have done more and better on...

Re: jewelry pricing
When we did shows we priced the items "in the proximity" of the item. i.e. on a neck form we would have the price next to the item. We never had the price on the item itself where the customer could see it. The psychology of having the price visible on the item is that it took a commitment...

Re: How do I make dichro frit balls?
Valerie,
I have tried the lay flat method. I get pointed thingies (tech term) where the corners of the dichro pull up.

Re: How do I make dichro frit balls?
Dichro frit is a funny little bugger. It does not fuse like regular glass. I have tried to fuse it high (1550-10 minutes) and get pretty good results. some colors do have problems with that temperature. The problem is the dichroic coating acts independent of the glass substrate. Kind of holds the gl...

Re: hand polishing
To expand on Brad's answer, It really depends on the starting "shine" or lack thereof. If your glass is modestly frosted, It might be best to start with a higher grit and then graduate to cerium oxide. For more frosted piece you might start at a lower grit then graduate up to a higher then...

Re: Will these directions produce a properly fused, round bl
Little bit of a topic drift, but Bullseyes change to anneal hold at 900 still has me scratching my head.
The glass did not change.....they used 960 for 20 years. Were they suggesting the wrong temperature for 20 years.
Not that it makes a huge difference.

Re: Searching for a scale accurate to .1g
Harbor Freight Barry, normally Harbor Freight is the first place I'll head, and their digital scales aren't bad for heavier things. The ones I've seen there, though, couldn't maintain that level of accuracy. Au contaire, I still work with some lapidary rough and have a carat scale. Checking the HF ...

Re: Donations/Pricing
Your "value" has 2 different answers.
For the Value that the auction wants to know you give them the Retail value.
For the IRS (and only for the IRS) you give the cost of materials.

Re: ponderable?
Brad,
I know they do not strike until I fuse them. My question is about the original process.
At the factory, the glass comes out in a molten state and then is rolled into a sheet. How does the capacity to strike survive the molten state (and subsequent cooling)?

Re: Dichroic (etched) against shelf
It fires fine for me face down on thinfire. You can not go too high in temperature because the glass moves on top of the dichro.
However why are you firing it face down. For what you seem to want, you can just put the dichro face up on top of another piece of black.
