Re: UPS Lost Supplies

Thanks for sharing your information, Barry. My supplier has a replacement shipment (less one now out-of-stock item) ready to send, and asked me to wait a couple of more days before they ship. About ten years ago, I bought a couple of tires from Tire Rack, and they never arrived. The tires were shipp...

UPS Lost Supplies

UPS lost my latest shipment from my supplier, the first time ever in over 20 years. The package was delivered to a center about 25 miles from my house, and then onto the delivery truck. I happened to be at home when the UPS truck arrived and watched and heard the driver checking all the packages wit...

Re: Need solid glue to replace Triolyse...

Hi Julie. I am sorry E6000 does not work for you. It has always been reliable for me, but I do not live in a very humid climate. You might want to look for Tanya Veit's tips on using E6000 and Goop in a humid climate (just google her and glue). She is located in south Florida. I would not recommend ...

Fusing Hot Glass Murrini

I made these with some murrini a hot glass acquaintance made. Since I only had a small number of pieces and no idea of the compatibility of the glass, I just fused them with each other.

Re: Bullseye Being Investigated by Oregon DEQ

Getting your operation under environmental control and resuming production is great. However, I wonder if they can survive the law suits which are certain to come. I still remember Love Canal, and I recently watched the movie, "A Civil Action" plus I spent 31 years as a chemical engineer i...

Leatherbarrow's Crackle Book is Available

I bought Bob's book from his website yesterday. It is in pdf form and about $18 US. It is a very well-done book both in content and organization and a bargain. He has plans to publish at least two more.

Re: Silver Corrosion in a Gallery

Hi Judd and thanks to everyone for the suggestions. After swapping email with the gallery owner and learning silver tarnish is a problem throughout the gallery, I replaced all sterling ear wires with surgical stainless this week for that particular gallery. Fortunately, I do not have any tarnishing ...

Re: Gallery dispute via paypal

Hi Havi. Have you signed any paperwork or electronically agreed to any sort of contract? If you have, then you are bound by the conditions to which you have agreed, I would think. One of those conditions should address cancelling your participation in the show. If you do not have a contract, then I ...

Re: Pismo Gallery?

Hi Terry. I found this article about the closing. The owner is retiring at age 68 and after her best year ever. They are having the first ever sale if you have been waiting for that special Chihuly piece..... Actually, I think it looks like the gallery is done and their website is gone. http://cherr...

Re: matte finish

I seem to remember people posting about the difficulty of achieving a uniform matte finish using the standard off-shelf chemicals. I think the problem was the application of the product led to streaking.

Silver Corrosion in a Gallery

One of my best and favorite galleries for selling my work is a mix of many types of art work. Unfortunately, some of the chemicals used to produce the paintings seem to be corroding all of my sterling silver findings. If my work sells quickly, there is not time for the corrosion to begin, but after ...

Glues - Update

This seems to the year when all of my tried and true glues are either running empty or have expired. I have been using the same bottle of White Rain Extra Hold Unscented pump hairspray for years, but when I went to the dollar store to buy another bottle, the new version has "active botanicals&q...

Webinars

It seems like everywhere I look someone is advertising the latest series of glass webinars. I have yet to take one, but for fused glass they seem like something beneficial. Usually some idea of the physical process along with a firing schedule is enough to go forward with developing something new. I...

Worthwhile Glass Groups on Facebook

Since I have been banned from Fused Glass Fanatics without ever actually being accepted in the group, I was wondering what other glass related groups on Facebook other people like. Thanks.
